Yup half adozen games and bits and bobs. Like I said its my last project for some time and thought id do it right. No pointmhaving a board and using part of the ram slots

I think that should certainly hold you for a few years unless you need more VRAM.

If hes doing watercooling, acx cooler doesn't matter so get the cheapest reference 780ti from a reputable brand

Id get the ACX cooler. Runs quieter and cooler.

Unless you have to have the reference cooler because of the aethetic appeal.

After seeing this I do quite like the posiedon 780. Its a shame its not a 780ti but putting these in sli would anyone have any obligations? Ie for the little bit of extra performance would I be better off buy separate cooling blocks for 780ti?

Edit: and how much better are these than the 770 hydro copper? Can the 770 hydro copper be over clocked better like it seems to say on reviews?

The hydro copper is a 770 and 770s are about 20% slower than a gtx780 so while a huge OC will catch up to a gtx 780, a gtx 780 with a very mild OC will still be faster.

quadfire 290'x, water cool them. R9 290's have more raw power than NVIDIA. and R9 290's scale very well compared to tri-SLI or quad sli. and then upgrade your monitor. either 4k or 1440p or 1600p eyefinity

Jesus no, doesnt matter if you have sli or CF, but once you get passed 2 cards, you begin to be getting diminishing returns, per card you add, and then just more problems. If CF is as bad with just 2 cards, who would use 3 or 4 gpus?

I only want two. And yes I wouldnt mind upgrading my display later on to the highest res I can afford at the time. I really dont know about amd based. Even though it might work fine id always know its not nvidia. My mobo supports 2x slots at 16x so I guessed I might aswell utilize it. And two cards look allot better than one anyhow but would the poseidons do it justice.? Ie run smooth and have enough grunt to last me untill the 4k days of games?

Overkill is one way to put it. I'm the type of person that likes to do that sort of thing without being loud and proud (or trying not to be). I would like to go down the track of multiple displays but wanting to just get it up and running at the moment.

The only reason i want two gpus is because of its looks and something new for me to try. NOTHING ELSE hence why i'm open to ideas. (my previous pc was maxed out playing diablo 2 and was still lagging so... bit of a change )

The reason i picked the 770 was because of its higher clock speeds but im still very open to ideas

Yeh, I'd say they would do it justice. Just as a note, I have seen BF4 go up to 2.7GB vram usage in multiplayer on a few occasions when I was using a single 780 in my main rig - now in my lanbox. But most times it seems to stick around the 2gb mark according to afterburner.

If I had cash to splash though I'd be seriously looking at SLI 780ti as well though.

huh? I have 3 290's. and they are great. im getting one more in few months cause ill go 1600p eyefinity. plus water cooling.

They're only going to get bigger, so why go based on what it's at now? Unless you plan on upgrading in a year or two.

Sounds like a waste to me. After 2 cards, scaling tanks, regardless of sli or cf.

maybe the old cards. But the bridgeless crossfire has been great. the one more 290 is depending on the performance for the 1600p eyefinity. If 3 gpu's cannot provide the power, i may add one more.

but so far for trifire or quadfire reviews ive read, scaling is better than nvidia. I am not a fan of AMD nor NVIDIA but so far, the bridgeless cards has been great for me so Im sticking for AMD for now.
