win 8.1 vs win 7 x64 in 3dmark 11

I have done both repeatedly, and I can say I have the same results on both. (With in tolerance) I did not find one better than the other. So I switched to windows 8.1 since its the newer of the two and more relevant.

ie minimal services and applications

also kill explorer, and search around for a few tweaks ;)

I don't know ( and you might know something I Don't, so that means I may learn something here :) )When I stripped both OS's down I was getting similar results. Sure 1 would have 2 or 3 hundred point increase over the other from time to time. But not enough increase to say win 7 is constantly better in terms of performance. As a matter of fact, I would say the 2 to 3 hundred point increase usually went to Win 8.1 over win 7.
While my hardware knowledge is pretty good I admit my software knowledge is very limited. So you may be able to clear something up for me though. Possibility I was stripping Win 7 down incorrectly.

windows8 etc runs firestrike best for me and win7 3d11/3d06, since benching for boints i dont use win8.

but from my experience win7 has less services and better stability whilst benching. there a few other tweaks that can be done on win7 which gain points, given the points could be within margin of error but each OS allows different clocks/tweaks which lead to point differences.

and yes windows 8.1 seems to be better coded which allows better points but at a cost.
