Also haswell-e 8 cores will be expensive as hell so you'll probably get a 6 core in which case an X79 six core will be almost the same and probably clock better. Pretty sure, overclocking is much more CPU bound when it comes to Haswell/Z87 rather than boards. So I wouldnt really blame the chipset, rather then new CPUs.

Z87 has less letters in it than Haswell ao I refer to Haswell with Z87.

The motherboard comes with 4x SATA cables and they are pretty nice- save the $$$ and use them rather than the rosewill ones.

Other than that it looks like a really nice setup!

No point in getting the 4gb 770. Drop to the 2gb version then switch memory to 16gb 2133mhz variant.

just so you know, the armor on that motherboard will make the Noctua hardware need to be forced on, but I did get it installed on mine. Just as a heads up

Also dont bother with the mini fans for the motherboard. With them I saw 33 (best case scenario) degree PWM temps, without them and using an AIO, the most I ever saw was 42 (worst case) degrees. Also they make a lot of noise!

Why a gaming GPU if you don't game? Are you thinking about 4K?
If you're going to spend that much on the GPU, get a GTX 780 instead, like the MSI GTX 780 Gaming. $470 after MIR

This, or if you dont need a GPU really at all a GTX750Ti, you could drop the PSU down to a 500-650w after doing that too.

spend 1/2 that on a motherboard. basic models are fine. Think Z87 Killer, Z87-A, etc, etc...voltage control is inside CPU, only BIOS options affect OC.

get 650W Single-rail PSU. 1 VGA = 300W max, leaves 300W for the rest of the system. Two cards...and OC...jumps up to 1000W.

NO cables need..swap D14 for H80i, or CoolerMaster TPC812.

drop cables.

No cables.

Well, unless the cheap board you pick has two only, and you need more.

Don't forget that SKT 1150 and Z87 is mainstream enthusiast platform, and CPUs have built-in GPUs. No OC needed for gaming with anything current.

You're also close to building a very quiet system. Put these parts in a Fractal Design Define R4 or a Nanoxia Deep Silence 1 with a quiet GPU, like the MSI GTX 760 Gaming and you won't hear it. Also, you don't need an 850 watt PSU. 500 will do nicely. Seasonic G Series SSR-550RM or real quiet Seasonic SS-660XP2

Very quiet indeed.

There's something to be said now also about buying a complete platform rather than just random parts. All major brands now nearly have complete designs that include boards and GPUs that have matched features and software. Sabertooth and mainstream boards are meant to be used with DCUII cards. ROG boards get Matrix. MSI GAMING have GAMING GPUs, MSI MPOWER has MSI LIGHTNING. Gigabyte OC boards with Windforce GPUs. EVGAs got boards to go with their GPUS too. Cooling designs of both boards and GPUs work together. Given BIOS compatibilities issues due to Win8/8.1 and UEFI, USB stuff, etc...don't buy a mixed rig, M'kay?

Now pick a board 1/2 that price, and get a second SSD, RAID, and get a performance improvement for your dollar rather than spending it on stuff that ya won't really use, or need.

BTW, your sig is pretty funny, and still true. I don't do reviews for money, I do it for free hardware. And look at all the hardware I got... :roll:

To the people saying $1700 is enough for a 4930k build, that is where I started, and ran out of money. If I can drop the GTX 770 (which I would only recommend if Gary does not game), a 4930k system with something like a GTX 750 or HD 7770 would be possible.

I want to thank everyone that helped me choose my next build. I just finished ordering it so now I play the wait game lol.
