How common is the black screen issue on the R9 290 series? Just happened to me last night.

I've had my reference ASUS R9 290 card for about a month and only had w black screens last night.

It was fine for a month. I will have to test it with some looping benchmarks later, but for now I just wanted to know how common it is.

But to answer your question i think it was fairly common. I had it happen numerous times with my Sapphire R9 290 and every now and then with my AMD R9 290X

I had it twice although each time the cards has been removed before it started. To me my issue i think is the PCI-e socket were the card before that the pcb is thicker than whats on the 290X as a bit of cleaning any possible dirt in the pci-e slot and not seen the issue since.

hmm.. what kind of balck screens are you guys talking about? just random black screen than computer restarts? or display driver has stopped responding and has recovered black screen? I recently bought the gigabyte windforce r9 290, and since I had it, i've been having problems with it. The main problem that keeps occuring is when my computer just Randomly out of nowhere freezes and than just restarts by itself, and pretty much an error box popping up upon entering windows saying i got a BSOD. I checked blue screen view and the file ntoskrnl.exe caused it. Are you guys having this exact problem as well?
