meh, just need to smooth out those scratches!
use around a 600 grit first, wet with some kind of alcohol or rubbing spirit. Then jump to 800, again wet! Keep lapping in the same direction ( side to side or up and down)
Then when starting to look shiny and smooth go into 1200 grit dry. maintaining the same direction.
make sure to flip the heat sink around so pressure is from another angle tho.
myself wouldnt worry about filling the gaps with solder or whatever, just lap that baby good. ive seen many heatsinks or cpus with massive divots and never needed to fill the gaps!
