As the title :D

my budget is around £400 - £500

I currently have a 1920 x 1080 32" Samsung TV and it's too slow for gaming especially sports games.

thanks

The new DGM model Scan has available is actually pretty good for it's low price. We ordered 35 of them for work and only one arrived faulty (well, they forgot to put in a power brick...).

http://www.scan.co.uk/products/27-d...-dvi-dvi-vga-2560x1440-350cd-m2-80k1-6ms-vesa

We've even manually colour calibrated them, and all our photographers are pretty pleased with them.

It's IPS, as opposed to the Asus above, which is GSync overpriced and non-IPS, although if you're in the market for GSync, then the Asus is THE one to get.

with 28ms input lag i wouldnt say it is good for gaming

eidt:
this one is also good but screen is half gloss. it is avialable in white and black as well but they are more expensive

This would be ideal - but its alittle out of my budget plus is G-Sync worth all the money?

How long have you had the monitors? i'm skeptical about unknown brands as you don't know what to expect in terms of reliability. But it's got a load of inputs and its a great price for a IPS

Ye, asus swift is ultra upgrade.... i say one thing, if op, who have gtx 770, didnt get monitor with g-sync... it would be biggest f* up off all time. G-sync worth more than all your rig and whole pc gaming without it.

The monitor has everything i need on it except for a HDMI out (for xbox 360) - ill have to do some research into the G-Sync - I take it this is one of the first monitors to offer the G-Sync chip right?

Check into this one in your price range. It's a PLS panel which is the Samsung equivalent of LG's IPS panel. The reviews have been very good and I've used Asus monitors for years. They make quality monitors.

I have this montor - Pricey but its a brilliant peice of kit...... Just make sure you have the V-Ram to get the most out of it if youre a gamer :p

----

Checked your specs..... Yeah youre gonna need at least a 3GB card :p Theres quite a few of us in the same boat - 2GB cards running 1440p

but that is the V1 not the V2 LG panel. DGM probably revised the panels they used on their monitors.
i doubt changed panel will have any effect to input lag (not pixel responce time).

I have been looking at this monitor - i'm tempted. One thing's bugging me is the boarder around the monitor - is it as thick as the pictures make it out to be ?
you will have plenty of screen space to look at so screan boarders will be last thing you will notice.
my office monitor is 24" with 1 2cm screen boarders (pbq278q are about that size) and i can notice em very rarely.

That's actually not too bad - i'm sure my Samsung's something like that.

ah right 2cm that should be fine - plus it will be a 27" so shouldn't notice them (comparing it to your experience with the 24")

I'd say listening to your advice about "whole pc gaming" and what not, would be the biggest mistake of all time.

EDIT: I'll also +1 @FreedomEclipse's monitor, very nice looking, and remarkably decent specs.

this is quite indiviual but if you are like me more intersed from what happens on the screen rather then arount it you shouldnt have problems with boarders.

Well when it comes to Gsync the idea is that the monitor and the GPU communicate the refresh and adjust on the fly. So for instance when you are running at lets say 50FPS on a 60hz monitor, it adjusts the monitor to 50hz to make the game feel smoother and prevent things like screen tearing for instance. The opinion of it being beneficial depends on the hardware your running and a mix of the resolution and refresh of the monitor you want. With something like the Asus ROG Swift that is 1440p and 144hz, it makes more sense because running at a constant 144hz (Let alone at that resolution) is going to be difficult so the FPS is going to be changing constantly.

Is it the greatest thing since sliced bread? Not really for me because I feel the mark up is a little much for the benefits you get. But I am one person of course...

If you are looking for a 2560x1440p monitor, I would recommend a couple I have seen that look good for gamers:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236294

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824160178

I personally prefer Asus monitors for the quality of the build along with Hanns-G (Normally them for price to performance) and AOC.

Probably not. But you can go ahead and spread that bs around like 99.99% of your posts.
