Hi my friend has a lenovo ideapad y570 laptop.
it contains an i7 2630qm cpu...

I'd like to know if he can use intel's turbo boost on it. I've heard he can get 2.9 ghz with it.
how about the geforce gt 555 card, is it worth it to boost it a little using stuff like EVGA's precision x tool?

The processor has Turbo, so under load it will boost up to 2.9GHz, but only if a single core is loaded. If 2 cores are loaded it will boost to 2.8GHz, and if 3-4 cores are loaded it will boost to 2.6GHz.

turbo is on unless you explicitly disabled it in BIOS, i doubt it's worth overclocking the gt555 unless you can get more than 15% clockspeed

isnt it based on TDP? on my i7-2670QM using tmonitor, depending on the workload, sometimes i have turbo on all 4 cores (8 threads), probably due to the code not being as efficient as it can be
