All of those are a joke for gaming, but the last one should be the best.
:banghead::banghead::banghead:
The HD 7730 is much better for gaming compared to the bottom end R7 240 :wtf:

Maybe you are right, the only listings I find for the 1Gb version are DDR5 while the 2Gb versions are DDR3

You're all forgetting gaming does not always equals 144fps @ max settings @ 1080p. Advice like "They all suck, save for months on end to buy a mid range" is thoroughly useless. The OP has an 18 inch monitor, meaning it's probably 1366 x 768, or 1600 x 900. The HD 7730 (or the R7 240 if it has GDDR5) will serve him pretty well if he's willing to sacrifice quality and consider +30 FPS to be playable (shocking to some of you), and I'm pretty sure he's willing to do just that.

You could search for second hand cards as well, here you can usually find GTX 560 ti cards for about €35, but then you have to make sure your PSU is not total crap.

EDIT: Wait no, the R7 240 is slower than the 7730 even with GDDR5. Go for the 7730 if anything.

Where are you seeing that? They are both DDR3. I'm thinking they are very close... maybe the 7730 is better but not much. It's hard to find info on these cheap cards and the specs are all over the place as well.

EDIT: Ok, based on the specs the 7730 looks a little better than the R7 240. Both are 28mm and the 7730 has a few more shaders, ROPs, and TMUs.

PCI slots are backwards compatible.
It will work in your PCI 2.0.
Your 600W PSU will be absolutely fine!

You have plenty of ram.

Honestly if you cannot afford a better card and the store will not give you a refund, I'd see about getting a credit towards a later purchase. You can keep using your GT 430 until you can afford something better. The 7730 will not be a big improvement.

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/geforce-gt-430-gf108-fermi,2766.html Circa Oct. 2010
This GPU has a single Graphics Processing Cluster (GPC) with two Streaming Multiprocessors (SMs). Each SM is identical to the ones found in the GeForce GTX 460 and GeForce GTS 450, with 48 shader cores, eight texture units, four dispatch units, and a Polymorph engine.

The render back-end has two 64-bit memory controllers and a single ROP partition capable of four 32-bit pixels per clock. As a result, the GeForce GT 430 is essentially half of the GeForce GTS 450, but with half of the ROPs and the same 128-bit memory bus as the more expensive model. The result is a GPU with 96 shader cores, 16 texture units, and four ROPs.

We're not surprised that the Radeon HD 7730 comes armed with a cut-down version of the Cape Verde GPU found in AMD's Radeon HD 7750 and 7770. Both mid-range models have been around for quite a while, and it makes sense that the company would sort its chips to put the imperfect ones to use. The 7730's specifications are also typical of AMD's sub-$100 line-up. Two of Cape Verde's four render partitions are disabled, leaving eight full-color ROPs per clock. An aggregate 128-bit memory interface remains. The GPU has six of its 10 compute units turned on, each hosting 64 ALUs and four texture units, adding up to 384 shaders and 24 total texture units.

There were two versions of the 730 with different GPU cores; the lower-end GPU was the same GPU as the 430. Also, don't necropost. This thread is nearly a year old.

There are actually three versions: Two DDR3-versions, the 128bit is based on the 430, the 64 bit is based on the 630. One GDDR5 version, which was new.
