OFFICIAL GTA V (Discussion)

Yeah some short cuts on content baffled me. Like in GTA IV you were always fairly close to a place where you could get something to eat or drink to bring your health back up after a fight or accident. Here I literally had to search numerous times, then gave up and started looking at interactive maps on the net showing where you can get health pickups and such.

It's kinda ridiculous considering this kind of game is Rockstar's baby, yet Sleeping Dogs had such things in abundant quantity. I couldn't believe none of the food cart vendors can sell you food, and lots of carts actually have no vendors at them. The game just comes off as lazily made in many ways. It's not up to their usual standards on content and gameplay.

Yeah the Food Cart thing annoys me too. It's Vending Machines now and they are so far and few between.

I thought the vending carts restoring health was unrealistic actually, and the only half full health is more realistic.

Side note, chase a train in the desert, one with empty transport cars between box cars, do it with lots of sniper ammo and SMG ammo. Go on a rampage for a hour, get some grenades or sticky bombs for extra explosive fun. I could only handle 20 some minutes of five star fun, laughing like a maniac, sniping heli pilots and watching the shooters jump out only to be splattered and blown up by the crashing heli. I actually sniped one of the shooters out of a heli into my transport car so I could shoot a round into the body and keep the action going when the train goes underground.

The food cart thing isn't a question of realism, but lack of consistency. It makes it feel unfinished to have vending machines you can completely heal yourself with a mere soda, something that doesn't even have protein, yet you can't do the same with food carts. Even were it not such an issue, why are so many food carts seen unmanned? Most vendors with such small carts don't just leave them unmanned with items on them that can be grabbed. If you're going to argue realism, consider that.

I won't argue that fun can be had goofing around randomly, but when that becomes the focus of enjoyable moments, it just makes it all the more obvious the game's structured missions are lacking in substance.

Picked up the game on DVD. Installation time was just stupid.
Copied all disc's to the SSD and installed it again after a reinstall of windows. Much better install time.
So far everything is running great for me, no complaints beyond the initial 5+Gb patch download which Rockstar should provide via disc also for those that purchased the media.
I prefer the disc version as opposed to steam, simply because a long time ago I had games via steam using an old ISP email address and ended up loosing all the games when I changed ISP. From that moment on, I boycotted steam and prefer the original DVD.
I hated downloading 5Gb, I couldn't imagine having to wait for 65Gb.
Enjoying the game, running smooth without flaws and one day, I might actually complete the game when I get over the rampage in me.
I am yet to play online and probably won't unless I absolutely have to.
Happy gaming everyone.

What I'm really missing in GTA5 is Las Venturas and San Fierro from GTA3 San Andreas, especially when I saw this fan made map:
GTA-San-Andreas.jpg
Having all three cities would allow for a more epic/diverse story that progressively takes you to "new" cities introducing new characters from these cities, just like GTA 3 San Andreas did.
I know GTA3:SA map was smaller and more condensed but it felt bigger because of the context.

Were playing a game called Grand Theft Auto 5, and I litterally could not believe there was not a single "Chop Shop" for cars in the game. Or a place to even sell cars in singleplayer (I know you can in GTA 5 online)
Every Mod shop is a chop shop. You can sell pretty much anything you find in there with the exception of super cars.

Also I'm glad you a Frag Manic are in the minority. Got over 80 hours in the game and I'm only 30% complete in the single player. Personally I think you guys are missing the point of this game.

Mailman turned me on to this. He basically plays the game like the guy from "Falling Down".

Let me leave it short and simple....

Get yellow bulldozer,
install (single player) trainer that gives Super Speed,
find underpass and create a traffic jam,
proceed to go super speed into the traffic filled space constricted underpass,
Enjoy - Thats usually how I play this game

You lost me at single player.

Are there any decent mods for the game yet? What's the best site to download them from? I noticed Nexusmods has a GTA5 section, but there's not much in there (yet).

You can change weather/time
-All weapons

Invincibility for cars + player
Instantly repair vehicle/player

How is "the point" any different from any other GTA game made before it? Did you somehow miss my comparisons to past GTA titles in both story and gameplay?

I'm well aware that many people buy GTA just to get off on doing random silly stuff, but when that's all the game becomes, it may as well be a cheesy Saints Row title.

I tend to do random silly stuff until I get bored of it, run out of money or both, then I go back to the missions.

Yeah I know a lot of people seem content with that, but to me it just screams crappy campaign. Plus I tend to think it might also cause that random silliness to spread to online play, where it's probably going to adversely affect heist success.

When I play GTA, I'm not looking for a Saint's Row experience. This is essentially becoming more and more a console series for silly play time.

Maybe we are just getting old Frag but yeah I just can't do Saint's Row either and I don't go off the handle in GTA I prefer doing the missions and enjoy the chaos that might come with them not create my own. Heck Trevor has his own "Chaos Missions" that is more than enough for me.

That's what it has been since its inception with GTA 3, on consoles.

That's why I said more and more, but it's not completely just that. Sure a lot of people like it for that, but past titles def had more substance in story, characters and missions. Even just in some of the random world design regarding GTA IV.

I'll give you more examples. San Andreas had way inferior graphics, but gyms you could go to and even places that sold athletic clothes.

For a game that has a basic skill building system, GTA V is way out of whack. Instead of say being able to go to Vespucci Beach to work out on weights to raise your strength skill, the only way to raise it quickly seems to be hopping on top of a bus and kicking the roof.

Like I said, if Rockstar keep catering to this kind of nonsense instead of making some kind of sense of certain game features, all they'll be left with is a silly Saint's Row ripoff. I don't really care if they cater to the silly crowd with a lot of things, like stunt ramps, which I enjoy, but cutting out the sensible things is lazy and unnecessary.

Does it sound like this slightly underage kid has been negatively affected by GTA....no

I, however, want to run him over. :D
