I have been looking for a VBios that allows my HD 7870 to use UEFI, as I need that to be able to fast boot my windows 8.1 Pro machine. I have tried with no avail to use ASUS's BIOS update tool, it can not connect to the server and ends up telling me to contact tech support. I have tried on many occasions and never get anywhere with them.

I don't think there is a UEFI BIOS for the 7870 it's just old enough to be before UEFI was implemented on GFX Cards.

I wonder if you could force a flash of one of these?

I have no idea. Probably not (I have no idea if the bios chips are similar and/or compatible), but if you're feeling suicidal (and/or have a back-up so you could reflash)...may or may not be worth a shot. I chose the ones that auto-detect memory (exact same choices as Asus) and are Pitcairn XT, but beyond that (display outputs etc) I didn't check if they are similar. If *something* is going to work though, it's going to be those.

You already tried the tool from this link?

(I guess it checks for an asus motherboard? I don't know if you have one.)

I have a crosshair V formula-Z MB. I have tried the tool and it always leads to a failure.

I have a hd 7850 release date Mar 2012 Pitcain core.
Gpuz shows that as EUFI bios enabled.

Then I happily stand corrected. I wish I had a UEFI for my 7970 then...

At your own risk ofc, but I still think flashing to a different AIB bios (the HIS/Powercolor listed above) would work, and it's what I would try if I couldn't get in touch with an ASUS rep to forward their official bios directly (which would be my first suggestion). Most seem to very much use the same pcb/display/mem chip configuration (stock) both on board and in the bios. While I can't guarantee yours is the same, I would think it more likely than not.

Update: I talked to ASUS tech support via chat and he is going to let the devs know about my bios not downloading and see what they say about it.

P.S. In the forums on ROG, there was one post that support told one member "only system integrators would be getting the UEFI bios" for the HD 7870-DC2-2GD5 series of cards.

Your 7900 may have UEFI as a lot of the tahiti class vid cards seem to have it. You might be able to get a bios update from the manufacturer sent to email. ASUS wont send out the bios via email.

Actually it's one of the first ones(not even a boost) so highly unlikely

That's a bummer. I feel like there has to be a rep out there (on a forum or elsewhere) that will help you out....you just have to bug the right one. Maybe give JJ a shout? He might be able to connect you to somebody whom actually wants to help.

(If he gives you any trouble, tell him you are having trouble using ASUS products to do #8 on his shirt. If he can't help you, maybe he should remove it. :p)

Persistence is key...I'd kindly remind whomever you can find (if unhelpful), and make them keenly aware they list it as available on their website, but that the app/server connection/whatever is broken...and you even pass the silly mobo requirement hoop. It's not like you're asking them to create one for you, only to have available what was and apparently still is promised. If they can't make the app work, hopefully someone will do a solid and share the bios.

(While you're at it, I would reaaallly love AI suite support for my board, which has been pretty much broken since Windows 8...[kidding, don't really care].)

GL!
