Above, you can see the Zalman ZM-90 HP. The cooler is made from aluminum, and should be capable of cooling today's mid-range graphic cards.

The VF1000 is an active cooler manufactured from aluminum using four heat-pipes. Don't be deceived by its apparently small size: it will be capable of cooling GeForce 8800 GTX.

Cool, I wonder if 1 of these VF1000 would fit an x1800xt....

tho a Thermaltake AT1 would work a lot better in a way/////

See how the heatsink is coloured blue or black (between the two different models)

How do they add colour to the heatsink without undermining its heat transfer ability?
For example, obviously if you spray paint a surface you then have a layer of paint between the surface and the outside air. So what method do they use to add the colours onto/into the metal?

That VF-1000 looks awesome, itd be cool if they had two fans instead of the one though. They could have decreased fan speed/noise and achieved the same amount of cooling perhaps.

it isn't spraypainted
it's called galvanization or something like that ;)

I know its not spraypainted lol
Im asking what exactly it is that they do to it...

It cant be galvanisation because thats when they plate metal with another non corrosive metal so that it doesnt rust. Like galvanised nails.

They're anodized alot of zalman's products are. I also think the VF -1000 looks like an awesome cooler i dont really care for the other one though.

Hmm.. They look oddly familiar.

Should be interesting to see the performance of those two coolers. I can imagine we'll be seeing a review from Anandtech or some other good source quite soon.

To be honest, I'm very surprised that their "higher end" model does not give you the option to wrap the heatsync around to the back. One of Zalman's selling points was the benefit of "fanless" cooling when paired with a CNPS series CPU cooler.

ZM-90 HP is for lower end GPUs, like the X1650/7600GT/8600GT, etc. Of which produce normal amounts of heat, its a silent cooler anyway.

The VF1000 CU is made of copper, no shit, but seriously, how would it cool the 8800 with aluminium?, VF1000 is made for high end GPUs.

The Zalman 1000 cooler looks great! But i doubt it will outperform my HR-03 Plus in cooling the g80?? I hope it does because it looks lot smaller than my HUGE hr-03 plus which takes almost 4 slots downwards whit the fan included, would be nice to get better cooling and more space in the case. But as I said, i doubt it. Maybe if some later revision comes out with 2 fans(as someone already noted here)!??

HaZe303, why not mount your HR-03 Plus behind your card?

..and I doubt the Zalman will outperform the HR-03 Plus. Thermalright has six heatpipes compared to Zalman's four. Zalman's fan doesn't look amazing (or replacable).

Hmm.. My breakdown based on assumptions.

Zalman Pros:
Most likely cheaper (but not by much, I'd assume)
Zalman sticker
Easy installation

Zalman Cons:
Four heatpipes compared to the HR's six
Irreplaceable fan
