I'm actually debating getting this, the reviews seem pretty decent, it looks like it could be pretty fun. And being 30 bucks is a plus too. Though I am still enjoying Dead Island when I play, a shooter to hold me over until RAGE and BF3 just might be in the cards...

it be going cheap in no time as it don't seem like one of those games that can hold it's own.. Feels to basic to me and truly wish they spent more time on gameplay as i think that could of made it epic.

Well people, despite my little complaint above about getting constantly nailed, I still think it was worth the money.

It's so cheap too, that I don't think a purchase should be avoided because of other games.

the game ending was somewhat disapointing but i loved the gameplay in it!! the weapons were awesome, action was great. the enemies were hard on normal, most games on normal are easy to accomadate the casual gamers these days(this is my theory, im looking at u cod). my only other complaint was randomly my 2xgtx 580s would slow down to 20 fps during demanding boss battles and only 1 other time during numerous enemies battles then it would bounce back up again. i dont know if other ppl encountered it but it bugged the s*** out of me. i dont have this problem in other games.

I'm only on the first level and have gone a little way in, but I keep getting nailed in short order by the bosses. This is an exercise in frustration more than a game. :banghead:

I'm playing on normal difficulty, too.

Since getting stuck like I described, I haven't really gone back to it much. I find it annoying to be constantly overwhelmed with enemies, having so little ammo and having to constantly switch weapons.

With just a couple of tweaks - or even a cheat or two <shock> - I'd enjoy this game a lot. The graphics especially, look really good.

Anyone else ended up not coming back to it because of the difficulty?

You must not have been paying attention at the beginning. The bosses are quite easy if you use a bit of strategy. Are you taking advantage of weapons upgrades, and the stuns you can achieve with electricity? Between the two it's not too bad

I did upgrade, but I probably have missed a trick or two, lol.

Of course, I blow up all those things dotted around to electrocute the bots, but I still get overwhelmed. Heck, I'll try it on easy. :p

http://www.pcgamer.com/hard-reset-redux-is-on-the-way/

Now 5 years later they decided to revive this and called it Hard Reset Redux

It's being built on the latest version of the Roadhog engine (which is also being used for Shadow Warrior 2) and will include all of the content in the original Hard Reset as well as the Exile expansion. The overhauled edition will feature improved graphics, new enemy variants, and changes to pacing and balance intended to smooth out some of the spikes in difficulty that cropped up in the original release. There's also a new dash movement option, and a “cyber-katana” melee weapon.

Never played original maybe I'll play this

Nice necro posting.

I assume they're gonna charge all the owners of the original for the upgrade, right?

Would be silly if they didn't. I think an awful lot of people own Hard Reset simply because it was an excellent old-fashioned shooter, so giving it away to previous owners would be a titanic loss on revenue. If it's truly a redux like Metro 2033, they deserve to be paid. If it's a HD-ification like Heroes III, then they deserve very little for their effort.

Metro redux was released because they wanted to make it available for the next-gen consoles. Same with Hard Reset. It's not rocket science

I beat Hard Reset almost 3 years ago...and the impression I'm getting...is it is forgettable. Honestly, I don't remember hardly anything about it.

I do vaguely recall the game being difficult (played on normal); they better not nerf the PC version to please the peasantry.

I remember it quite well. Maybe it doesn't have a memorable story (remember, this is good old carnage game, not a Deus Ex grade material heavy on storytelling). But I do remember quite a lot of places that were driving me nuts but I memorized them because satisfaction after beating them was great :D Like that multilevel garage in the city. Or those underground conduits with electricity pouring out of the walls in some places. Or the "graveyard" in the end. It had good level design imo.

I remember it also had Skrimish mode where you had to survive waves of enemies, similar to Killing Floor. And you had short time between waves for upgrades and you were getting points for kills. That was quite interesting concept as well.

The end of that promo video does show the console logos, so this new version isn't a PC exclusive.

If this is true, and it's supposition at this point, FWH has always been PC-centric. That means consoles will get the port this time. It's about time.

New engine supports Linux, OS X, XOne and PS4. Shadow Warrior 2 uses this engine and so does HR Redux. They both will be optimized for consoles just like Doom 3 BFG edition. This means nerfed difficulty.

Shadow Warrior 2013 was Windows exclusive for a year or so. Later came PS4 and XOne support. And 2 years later in 2015 it got Linux and OS X support.

It seems Windows exclusivity is dead.

You can get it very cheaply on Steam. Think modern, fast-paced, old school shooter. Great fun!

@Drone I did say PC-centric, not PC exclusive. Notice all that porting FROM PC to console. :)
