Funny there is no details of what this patch actually changes

I hope the sometimes glitchy airplane crashes?
Anyhow, at what time do people here game?
Performance is rock solid for me, though GPU and CPU on all cores tend to be at 100%, Ultra setting, with 110% resolution. Don't even have the latest drivers, still using the one from the beta.

Im finding BF1 to be very playable and very enjoyable on my xbox one. Control over FoV, Motion Blur, and various little tweaks to your video settings. Campaign is very well done, I found myself very upset about a particular ending of a mission. Multiplayer is great, a bit of micro stuttering here and there but nothing unplayable. Operations is fun as hell, I can see myself sinking hours upon hours into operations, your bog standard conquest, rush, tdm, and even War Pigeons (haven't played yet). Even on console the game looks fantastic, sounds fantastic, and just feels satisfying to play and win.

Crashed last night, still gotta dial in my overclocks.
War pigeons and operations are both great. But I put them on hold because conquest levels classes at least twice as fast.

I'm also really confused on how the medal system works... I have zero progress on all of them.

For the medals you have to track them, and complete the challenges associated that give you bonus XP for completing. For the one I'm on now it required you to destroy 10 Vehicles, Kill 10 people with AT grenades, kill 10 people with the AT rocket gun, and get a 5 kill streak as an assault player. Albeit probably missing a step but it kind of works like that.

If I'm not mistaken you were also given some time to complete all the tasks for the medal, after that it resets and you have to do it all over again.

Okay for people who have played on console, if you changed your FoV/Motion Blur settings are you getting the occasional Frame Stutter? Because that is exactly what is happening to me. Either that or my connection takes a dump for a second.

Multiplayer so far seems fine but trying to play single player just to check it out and the game crashes every time. I can play 15 minutes or one minute but in the end...crash. Of course I have to start the single player over each time from the beginning too....fug.

Solved my crashing issue. If I play in windowed mode it doesn't crash. Play in full screen mode and crashes happen constantly.

I hope they fix this...the latest patch did not address this issue as I already tested it.

Gameplay a side. The music while waiting in queue to join a server or a friend's game is a really nice touch. DICE really did well with the soundtrack

These official servers are a joke. I can only see about 1-5 populated servers in North America located in Texas. Most of the US servers I see are over 100ms, a few servers that are 50-65ms.

Come on DICE! What is the hold up on hardcore server mode?

It sounds like a remix of 1942's music, very nostalgic.

I particularly like the whole orchestral sound of it, how the screen backgrounds change and the music slowly changes to fit whichever race or culture being depicted in that picture. Normally, a soundtrack like that is only on MMORPGs, Guild Wars in particular had the same kind of slow orchestral music but the music on this sounds so much better.

I think of just 2 games in the past 2 years that had great enough music that I would just let it sit there. Fallout 4, and Battlefield 1, hands down.

I played about 2-3 hours last night without a single crash. I hate windowed mode though.

Visually this game is stunning. Running around wet and it looks...really wet. wind blowing across the desert...just too many details to mention. Game not only looks fantastic but it runs perfect too at Ultra settings.
I hate the Assault class gun so I switched it up to support class and it is much better. I still get my ass handed to me by rifles but if I can get closer to them my 96 round mag comes in handy more times than not. ;)

I play flight sims and I even have a flight cockpit but flying in this game with M/Kb and I get my ass handed to me even more. My favorite vehicle is the light tank. That thing is special. I even took on a heavy tank last night after a bit of a battle I took it out just because I got right up next to it and just kept towards it's rear as it slooooooowly tried to turn. Great fun!

Not sure if this has already been brought up in this thread but this game seems to be yet another example of DX12 implementation fail. DX11 seems to be the best bet.

http://www.hardocp.com/article/2016..._card_dx12_performance_preview/6#.WBCy6PTWGxE

From the article:
"Should you play BF1 in DX11 or DX12?

One of the questions we wanted to ask, and answer, is if you should play BF1 in DX11 or DX12 for the best gameplay experience?

We have discovered that BF1 is highly optimized and runs well in DX11. Performance is very good on an AMD Radeon RX 480 and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 in DX11. We can run the campaign mode at 1440p with the highest possible in-game settings on both video card and still average above 60 FPS. At 1080p performance is well into the 90’s to 100’s, which is incredible. However, you must use DX11 to experience this bliss in gaming performance.

When switched to DX12, BF1 falls flat on its face. There is no performance improvement, and there are no visual quality improvements. In fact, there is a negative return on framerate. On both the AMD Radeon RX 480 and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 the framerates go south and provide worse performance while gaming, at 1080p and 1440p.

It was clear though that the GeForce GTX 1060 took a greater hit in performance running DX12 versus DX11. The AMD Radeon RX 480 took a lesser hit in performance, though it was still slower in DX12.

Note that this is all with the latest drivers as well. We are using the AMD Crimson Edition 16.10.2 Hotfix driver and the NVIDIA GeForce 375.63 driver, both newly released for this game.

DX12 introduces a stutter in BF1 on both video cards. We found it incredibly noticeable during mission load, and multiplayer map load. For the first 15 seconds of loading a new map or multiplayer map there would be random noticeable stutter. Then there would be random stutter as you played, especially more noticeable in multiplayer maps. DX11 was butter smooth with no issues on either video card in multiplayer.

Therefore, the answer to our question right now is simple; run BF1 in DX11. There is no reason to run BF1 in DX12, unless you just like to punish yourself. Both the Radeon RX 480 and GeForce GTX 1060 will be better off in DX11 in multiple ways.

Maybe a patch will come in the future that helps DX12, or new drivers, we can only hope and be on the lookout for such things."

Ive turned my settings down to the 'high' profile from ultra and on some of the maps where there are a lot of foliage my Vram still gets filled to capacity and frames starts tanking & micro stuttering really badly. -- Curse of the 970. I am working on getting a 1070 though. Im running the latest drivers for Nvidia so im not sure if its just a driver issue.

Been playing it, love it though I do think some minor balance changes are needed in certain areas. Have not really experienced to many problems though other than an occasional crash on startup of the game due to the second monitor (I am guessing because its a different resolution? No idea but disabling resolves the issue completely).

As far as kits go, I have been sticking to support mostly because that's always been my main and I want to unlock stuff in it first. The kit is not as mobile as in the past I have decided as most other guns in a 1v1 seem to have the upper hand. Though I still love using it, found that the Benet Mercei is just fun to use though my go to for kills sticks between (With what I have unlocked) the MG15 and the Madsen as the Madsen is a little better at spraying ammo and the MG15 has a huge magazine.

Went on an absolute tear with the Madsen last night. Honestly I don't think I've found anything broken yet.

I'm at work so I can't check this myself but by default does BF1 run in DX12 mode? I ask because I'm running the game all Ultra and everything runs amazingly well other than the occasional crash. I only need to run games at 1080p though. I have not experienced any stuttering or any other negative thing in this game other than the CTD.

Went on an absolute tear with the Madsen last night. Honestly I don't think I've found anything broken yet.

I find LMG's in general to be absolutely woeful. In close a small 3 or 4 shot burst wont kill a full or close to full health target, spread becomes absolutely dog shit after that initial burst which means you cant just spray and hope to hit something YOU WILL HIT ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. Many a time I have gotten the drop on an unsuspecting target and the LMG has failed me 8/10 times. small burst wont kill him, and i can empty an entire clip or magazine into him as he starts dancing around and bunny hopping like a little bitch to avoid getting hit and i probably hit him TWICE out of the 20 or 30 rounds i fire. then he rams his rifle or 1911 up my ass, fires once or twice and kills me.

LMGs are terrible for close combat. Shotguns are still bad, but not as bad as the beta. Ive point blanked a gun who should died but turned around and stabbed me in the face...

Am I salty?? Yes Because even M18 trench guns are on and off... medium distance they are bad, but for close combat they are way better than the shotgun. You cant really run and gun unless you're an assault class. Maybe im just playing the classes incorrectly.

as a support gunner i even get reamed by the shitty slow firing rifles that medics have..... I'll be glad when hardcore mode is available and bullet damage will actually account for some sort of damage with the LMGs

Yeah, hardcore makes weapons more 'equal'. Without hardcore they're simply overpowered or underpowered. In hardcore the weapon becomes less meaningful compared to your tactics and play style. One shot in the chest with a pistol should be equalled by one shot in the chest by an SMG or LMG. Unloading a full clip to kill someone is simply nonsense. Larger calibre weapons can do more fatal damage with limb shots but are generally less mobile or slower.
Yeah... Hardcore.

Is it just me or is that bayonet charge able to freeze me up? I ask because twice now someone did that to me and even though I was facing them from 10 feet away I couldn't lift my gun up to aim at them. It is like my body was in slow motion. I could have easily killed both these guys if not for this slow mo deal.

As for the LMG's...well I have no issues killing with these guns when close up or medium distance for one reason alone...96 rounds. I'm able to keep firing while the enemy is reloading. Makes all the difference but firing at long range is terrible.
