NVIDIA today announced the mobile variants of GeForce GTX 1050 and GeForce GTX 1050 Ti. Not only do the two SKUs feature unchanged core-configurations from their desktop counterparts, but also feature higher clock speeds. The GTX 1050 Ti Mobile ships with 1493 MHz core and 1620 MHz GPU Boost (compared to 1290/1392 MHz of the desktop GTX 1050 Ti); while the GTX 1050 Mobile ships with 1354/1493 MHz (compared to 1354/1455 MHz of its desktop sibling). Both SKUs are being offered to notebook designers with up to 4 GB of GDDR5 memory.

Based on the 14 nm GP107 silicon, the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti Mobile features 768 CUDA cores, 48 TMUs, 32 ROPs, and a 128-bit wide GDDR5 memory interface. The GTX 1050 Mobile is based on the same silicon, but features 640 CUDA cores, 40 TMUs, 32 ROPs, and 128-bit wide GDDR5 memory interface. At the 2017 International CES expo, various notebook designers are expected to unveil gaming notebooks with these two chips. The GTX 1050 Ti is being mooted as being ideal for notebooks with 1080p displays, while the GTX 1050 Mobile is targeted at 1600x900 displays.

Thats cool, glad to see the higher boost speeds. Wonder how well they will perform and if they can hold them well because that would be pretty great for mobile gaming with those cards if they can hold up!

GTX 1050 and GTX 1050 Ti are absolutely brilliant for gaming on mobile.
GTX 970M-like performance for half the power consumption is some big news.

Oh I thought the performance was going to be even with the 960M?

maybe 960M = 1050 and 970M = 1050Ti

Hoping Dell gets these in a XPS soon and hope it is the 1050Ti chip

Based on what? Desktop 1050Ti is about 25% than desktop 960 and these mobile cards come in the same configuration, but with slightly higher clocks. You do the math.

??? I wasn't basing it on anything I was asking hence the question-mark

I have looked around but the 1050Ti mobile is very new, so new I cant find much and no comparisons.

I don't see Dell putting more than a 1050Ti in a XPS laptop so I hope it is powerful. I would love to have a 1060 or a 1070 in there but Dell simple will not compete with the rest of the big boys when it comes to graphics in laptops

Mobile GPUs are throttling very heavily and clock speeds can't be compared to their desktop counterparts, this especially applies to higher models.

GTX 1050 (Ti) will probably be the highest "usable" mobile GPU, as the others will be too hot to really use.

So, the mobile chip is clocked FASTER then the desktop one? That's a new trick.

Cant wait to see the midrange laptops that ship with the 1050ti. Im thinking machines in the $800-$900 range.

MASSIVE citation needed. There have been plenty of reviews of 1070 and 1080 laptops that do not throttle under load. the mobile 1080 has also been shown to match the desktop 1080. Dont spread FUD.

I have a GTX 1060 notebook (MSI GE72VR 6RF Apache Pro) and it doesn't run too shabby at all. In fact, I'm glad I didn't wait for the little chips to come out as this one runs nicely, especially compared to my old GTX 765M notebook. With the fans on max and my 6700HQ undervolted with a -0.09V offset along with the GPU overclocked to +200 core/+500 mem (stock base core is 1405MHz), I hit the low 80C range usually and the GPU seems to be limited to about 75W if HWINFO64 is correct (and the GPU hangs around 1750MHz depending on the load). These chips are way better than their old counterparts, for sure.

I'm waiting for the 1050m or 1050tim to replace the likes of the 940mx. My on the go gaming is largely less demanding these days, with the desktop doing the heavy lifting.

Something like the 14 inch thinkpad E47- with a 1050tim would be perfect. Or even something like the razer blade with a 15w dual core and the 1050tim

And here I am just wishing my 2015 HP Pavilion X360 11.6" (swapped motherboards from Pentium N3700 to Core M-5Y10c) had a fan.

Something like that does sound pretty nice, TBH. I'd also like to see a new Alienware Alpha with a 10 series chip (considering they crammed a desktop 960 in there) and two DDR4 slots (the first one had two DDR3 slots).

I'm waiting for one of these to appear in a convertible like an XPS 13 convertible or a HP Spectre X360. I really would like a gaming capable convertible that doesn't cost a metric butt tonne like the Surface Book.

1050 Ti in a convertible XPS 15" will be awesome... though companies usually doesn't make convertibles 15'ers...

GTX1050ti notebook outperforms the GTX970m by 3.5%, should be replacing the GTX965m, and GTX1050 should be replacing the GTX960m.
