Remember what Intel charged for their original 6 Core parts. Hell Westmere-EP Xeons were $1600 when released. And a good i7-980X-EE or 990X-EE was around $1000, and that was 130 watt TDP, LOL. This is epic news, nothing short of absolute epic PC gaming shakeup the industry news. I been saying all along that the 8C16T would come in around $500-600 and more specifically I thought we would see the flagships at $549 and a $599 Black Edition part with an insanely gorgeous Water Block. That would be really nice...

As has been stated previously, these are not meant to take on Intel's absolute Enthusiast parts a.k.a X99, even though they touted it against the 6900K. These are meant to show you that you can have similar performance for a much lesser cost to play and thus everyone can enter the game. Its very rare that someone needs that many PCIe lanes, which is what AMD is targeting right away, the absolute necessary and the 99% of people that don't need that extra crap. They are meant to stop the price gouging going on in the PC market, which is one of the direct reasons why the PC industry is in such decline because some people would just prefer to buy a cheaper tablets or Smartphones instead of a new PC build.

AMD will try to answer X99, or X299 later on in the year with faster 8 Core, 10 Core and maybe 12 Core parts. A new chipset on the same AM4 socket will probably be introduced at that time, lets hope. Don't forget Asmedia is providing AMD the Chipset designs so don't expect Intel levels of performance out of AMD's chipsets. AMD is ignoring the unnecessary (for now) and going after the necessary. The CPU's performance is what makes a HEDT truly HEDT. IMO the X370 and the 1800X would be a Midrange HEDT system, or High-Enough for Mainstream users and Gamers. lol

Anyone who wants more lanes for multiple GPU's should stick with X99 or wait for X299, or wait for reviews to see how the X370 performs with 2 cards. Maybe its good enough? I'd wait for Skylake-X myself.

390 euros is super cheap, amazing value for an 8 core 16 threads processor at 65W. That is insane. Intel's 7700k costs almost as much and its only a 4 core chip and at more wattage.

I hope these prices are true, because that is going to be amazing for the consumer. I'm not planning on upgrading soon, I just haven't got the money and my 4 core I5 3000 intel processor is still serving me good, but hopefully in the future with strong competition I can get a good deal.

Unless somehow you've had the luxury of being the first consumer in possession of a Ryzen cpu? Don't jump on the hype train, lol, wish them the best and call it a day there.

Just my two cents on the way the rumours see it. I have not tested them. We still got just as much information about them. If they are true, my claims are perfectly fine. Of course that's just a speculation.
See the market as it is and you have already lost it. See the potential and you have a lead. See the possibility and you won the game.

Hoping I can get a 6c/12t chip for the same cost as a 4c/4t i5 from intel which is currently around £220-£240! robbing bastards. And if they have comparable ipc then that's going to be an awesome win for AMD and hopefully people will realise that Intel have been over inflating the cost of their processors for the last 6 years and still not given us anything more than a 4c/8t high end desktop part unless you go HEDT and sell a kidney. Who the hell cares if 4 cores is enough for gaming and most current applications? if anything more is not affordable then why should game or app developers bother to push the boundaries? Looking forward to having an all AMD system for the next few years if all goes well.

Yeah I'm just guessing that since Skylake-X will have 8, 10 and 12 core variants (I actually forgot the core count so correct me if I am wrong) that AMD will have to follow suit. I surely hope x370 is just the starting point where south bridges are concerned and that we get better versions to take on the upcoming X299. Maybe X380's and X390's perhaps? That's the only thing that makes sense to me. However, I still doubt Asmedia has it in them to compete with Intel designed and built chipsets. AMD never did quite manage Intel levels of SATA performance, even Intels on-board SATA RAID was far a head of its time.

All I want is to retire my 6C12T Xeon and I want to do so with a Ryzen 6C12T Black Edition out of the gate. 8 or more Cores will be much later for me, maybe half way through Ryzens tenure. I still need to see what Intel does with X299 before I decide to increase core count.

The R7 1700 seems to be the smartest choice then. Unless the X - whatever feature(s) it designates - has a huge impact, then the R7 1700X might be the better choice. Be that as it may, the R7 1800X is unattractive imho.

Now all we need are reviews... Can't wait!!!

Does not make sense or cents. €599.99 for a CPU that is to compete against Intel's €1,200 offering? €999.99? That's more like it.
Look, AMD is a corporation. A corporation that has been losing money for years. Their stock holders will demand that they sell their processors at the highest price they can get, which means just slightly less than similarly performing Intel offerings. I see the 1400X competing with the 7700K, (yes, I think that chart is wacked) so I think its price will be around $/€295. Then just scale from there. The thing is, Intel has nothing to compete with the 6/8 core AMD offerings, unless the user goes to the (expensive) HEDT platform.

Unless AMD is trying to make a case that Intel has been anti-competitive and over charging for their stuff for years........

Of course, this is all speculation...

I agree some of the pricing does seem a little off. But AMD is like every other company and wants to make GP .so if intel is selling their products at a 30% profit then AMD may do the same BUT with lower operational, R&D, fab costs that number may end up being less than Intel's. Remember Intel had higher operational costs since they still own their own foundries where AMD uses Global foundries.

Another point is take into consideration that AMD hasn't been competitive in the CPU market since 2012 so they have to make up a lot of ground in terms of market share. One way to do this is to knee cap the competition in terms of pricing.

There isn't a whole lot that could be done to make AM4 competitive feature-wise with Intel's HEDT platforms, other than slapping PLX chips onto boards; as Summit Ridge CPUs have 24 PCI-E 3.0 lanes (16 for graphics, 4 for dedicated M.2, 4 to the hub).

The link between the CPU and the controller hub is only a PCI-E 3.0 X4 connection; the PCI-E 2.0 lanes, the USB 3.1/3.0 controller and the SATA controller all make use of that X4 link. Only way to increase lanes to the hub is to use the CPU's M.2 connection as 4 extra lanes (for latency reasons, as PLX devices add a bit of latency).

You gotta look at it as not 16 threads as most of the grunt will come from the 8 real cores, threads help but not as much as real cores do. So look at it as just a 8 core CPU and then ask your self that question again.

WOF most likely means "Without Fan" (i.e. no cooler provided) ... AMD used that in their part numbers in older models iirc

Apparently the pre-order price has a 6-7% increase over MSRP, based on the previous preorders of Kaby Lake... that put the price in the range of..

1800x: 459 USD
1700x: 359 USD
1700: 299 USD

And... there's something that it's making some reddit users to scratch their head...
