Any chance we can stop the FUD news posting about ryzen/Intel?

I can just say factually that without product rumor our newsfeed would have much much less content. Like it or not, that's the talk as of late, we just report it.

Maybe these articles need an identifier then? Start with RUMOR - AMD Ryzen 7 Initial Inventory Looks Healthy for example. I dunno what will be the fix-all for this, no matter what you guys do someone will be pissed that you did it. But maybe if you add rumor those that can't stand rumors can more easily avoid them? I realize adding the source helps for some as Dave mentioned above, but unless you scroll to the bottom of the article or read through it, you'll have to deal with the content. Which to me isn't that big of a deal as I'm usually selective what tech news I read anyways.

That being said, I do think maybe you guys could pilot test the next rumor news with a Rumor tag and see how that works out? Add some extra TPU speculation and quirky comments. I should add that I have enjoyed your news posts R-T-B, congrats on becoming TPU staff and maintaining it. :)

Nope. Not once. I just checked back going on a month. Nothing.

That aside, I've stayed away from these threads unless I'm summoned in some moderator capacity. For me, they aren't worth the time reading. If and when I want information on AMD's new chip and/or Intel's dealing with it, I'll start reading things on it after the product actually launches.

I want to say the entire moderator staff including yourself was tagged into it. Sneeky responded and said there is nothing ya'll can do to fix it. I will look for it and shoot it to you in PM.

ROFL. You forgot it's been like 6 years writing for TPU for me, and no tags you can notice? I had fun for a long time posting when people didn't realize it was me doing the board reviews. :p

You are correct, but doing what we do allows you to hear the same stuff that everyone else does, yet at the same time, clearly notice the sources of the informations. Listing the source lets you filter out those that you'd rather not listen to, since sometimes, news from weird places does hold a bit of truth. Also, this way, you get everything here, and don't have to visit anywhere else.
please tell me you are going to end Ryzen performance speculation personally :)

Not my call, but certainly worthy of discussion IMO. Maybe start a suggestion thread.

I mean, we do have a forum for such things, don't we? Too lazy to look right now. I hope we do.

If RGB reviews, I have no idea what it is. :)

Me? Or the RGB craze? :p

I assume you meant me. No, I don't review anything at the moment, though I'm probably qualified to do a few things, and will be posting a quasi-qualified purely perceptual review of my new monitor on the forums this week. Naturally, it's not TPU homepage material because it lacks measurement gear. :p

I did review a Chinese Fuloong mini-pc a good many years ago, in the bowels of the internet. It sucked and may have given me cancer. Wayback machine may have it if I go digging.

Brought this up in TPU Discord on 02/14/2017...

That has been tried for multiple offenders some of which posted actual wrong information
https://www.techpowerup.com/230649/amds-ryzen-processors-box-art-leaked
Legit box art here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06WP5YCX6/?tag=tec06d-20

https://www.techpowerup.com/227941/amd-radeon-gpus-limit-hdr-color-depth-to-8bpc-over-hdmi-2-0
Other websites debunked TPU (as well as in the forums) and there's still been no corrections. The limitation is HDMI 2.0, not Radeon. The same limitations apply to GeForce when using HDMI 2.0.

https://www.techpowerup.com/230291/amd-readies-ryzen-platform-drivers-for-windows-7
The following a week later:
https://www.techpowerup.com/230517/no-windows-7-drivers-for-amd-ryzen
Yet the fake news (call it what it is) of the original news article still makes no mention that it is in accurate and search engines still find it.

In all of the cases above, TPU continues to spread falsehoods. TPU needs to adopt journalist standards. Example here:
http://www.spj.org/ethicscode.asp

Specifically:
Acknowledge mistakes and correct them promptly and prominently. Explain corrections and clarifications carefully and clearly.
The internet never forgets, including everything that is wrong.

I personally am not sure we have the manpower to go back and correct everything, but I can't speak for the organization there. I just know I don't. I can cover my work, but not much more.

It's a matter of ethics. Failure to make corrections means loss of trust and respect. That translates into losing users.

Does TPU want to be a tabloid everyone ignores or does TPU want to be a beacon above all the muck? Ignore ethics for the former; enforce ethics for the latter.

That's only 2 sticks, just as he said...
The point is until it's released, it is all a rumor, it's all filtered through someone else's lens and it's all colored by someone else's bias. Wait until you can read a review before you commit to facts you can't demonstrate. No one cares what you think.

I hear where you are coming from, but it all doesn't matter. People can think whatever they like, and hold whatever opinion they like. Few will be able to change that.

Look, I don't have a problem with you guys posting rumours, but it has to be as pointed out above, noticed as such and TPU needs to have a bit of a filter. Recently (and especially from Ravenlord) there have been too many stories presented as facts with a lot of personal opinion mixed it. TPU used to be a solid source for information, but there has been so much random stuff posted in the last month that I don't know what to think any more. If you want to post rumour an opinion pieces, fine, but it can't look like factually correct information when the writer isn't 100% sure.

Having been a tech journalist for well over a decade myself, I know how hard it can be to filter things. There are times when I have had to sit on stories because I haven't had enough facts or verification that the information was correct. It's one thing to post some leaked slides as generally you can tell if they're the real deal, at least from Intel, as they have a certain way of doing slides. It's a different thing to post up some photochopped stuff and claim it's the real deal, as in the case of the Ryzen box art someone mentioned above, without being sure that it's what the final thing will actually look like. This was presented as facts, not a rumour, not as a maybe and it makes TPU look bad and it's something I think most of us that read the site doesn't want.

I dont get it, nobody is forcing you to read any of it...do you have some active feed from this website that is getting cluttered up or something?

I mean I guess what you are really requesting is a function to make sure you only get editorials?

Ahh, when you commit to pushing rumors as fact.
Realistic expectations are not facts. They may become facts in retrospect. Good for me I never said they are facts so I can't be held accountable in the court of law :p ...
But you know, complain more about TPU.
... nor did I complain about TPU ... why would I? :lovetpu:

I can't believe anyone would complain about having too much news about a hot new product. There's just no pleasing some people, they'll bitch about anything. :shadedshu: And it's in the forum anyway, not the front page and shows the level of interest in Ryzen. The front page doesn't cover it quite enough in my opinion.

@FordGT90Concept Good point there and well made.

I don't get you people. News leaks whatever there is. Why somebody should stop looking, reading or comment on something he/she has few words to add about and is interested in? If you don't like it or you are tired of this ( I remember one time somebody said he fell asleep reading post) don't read it. You got nothing to comment then don't comment. I don't understand if somebody wants to pursue some facts or gossips or anything and make a remark to what's been presented you are bitching about it saying it is stupid and nobody should do it cause you're fed up with it. And since you get head spin and feel dizzy you expect that the world is suppose to stop cause you say so and you are tired of that? Hypocritical I'd say and annoying. It's a tech site and I'm tired of constant fanboy's, FUD's and other crap form people that are tired of this. Find a hobby and gently buzz off.

I think that's the fundamental concern here...lol!

My only concern is with a lack of due diligence in a recent article about Intel calling reviewers. I asked the question, twice (summoned Btarnur early yesterday morning) in that thread for comments on if TPU received that call or not. That would have been great information to have BEFORE the article went up. THAT is journalism/news. Confirmation, or an attempt, when possible to confirm what you are posting up. TPU has the ability to tap editors to share if they received a call or email.

With that in mind, not sure if these guys are paid by the article, or paid a salary. If it's the latter I expect more, the former a model which encourages quantity, not quality posts.

The problem is that there are a bunch of random rumours going around with a lot of incorrect information and it's being presented as facts. That is a problem in the tech community just as much as it is when it comes to headline news. Everything is about sensationalism these days, rather than presenting proper, researched facts.

One piece that really got me frustrated here was the post about the X370 being the only chipset supporting SLI. I thought this was fairly obvious, as on Intel's side, only the Z270 (ok, X99 as well), supports SLI out of its multitude of consumer chipsets, so why anyone expected the B350 to support SLI is beyond me. Even more so when AMD stated quite early that only the X370 chipset supports dual x8 configuration of the PCIe slots. Nvidia doesn't supports 16/4 like AMD does for CrossFire.

On top of that, the article went on to spread a bunch of FUD from ComputerBase with regards to the other chipset features. They mixed up things and they're not the only ones that apparently are unable to read the specs correctly. Admittedly AMD hasn't made it easy either and with the board makers not being clear on top of that, it can be confusing. This is where TPU needs to step in and present clear facts, or nothing at all imho, rather than borrow some badly researched information and post it as facts.

That problem starts with the reader, not the sender.

The reason fake news is so hot right now is because the vast majority of receivers of that news don't bother to think critically about the source of the news and how it could benefit that source. There is only a market for stupidity if you have stupid buyers.

Unfortunate but true, the stupid are a majority and there is no foolproof you can devise to counter stupid. FWIW I feel TPU is one of those rare tropical islands where the stupid gets outnumbered fast, or banned outright.

In the end it all comes down to how well developed your own common sense really is, and whether you are capable of taking a step back from the article, consider it, and draw an evidence based conclusion on it. That, and the fact that there's a steep learning curve with regards to 'fact and source checking'. When you fail on that, you fail bigtime, and once you are able to see the failure, generally you'll get smarter. It's a big part of growing up that many people have overlooked for years.

The majority is stupid?. Dude chillax a bit really. Think of yourself as the wise one in that matter and stop calling others people names. That should cut it bro. People maybe just wanna know what's going on so stop complaining.

@Vayra86 You are correct with one thing. If it says rumor that means it is a rumor. If you don't understand that statement or think rumor and fact are equal then simply improve your English but that doesn't make people stupid.

I'm very relaxed, but its a trend these days that is clear for all to see. People don't fact check, people assume a lot, and people don't check sources. Not a week goes by without the next 'Whatever-gate' that turns out to be total BS a week later. The reason this becomes news every time, is because it gets big, and it gets big because the bar for pushing news onto the world has been lowered. The internet allows everyone to 'make the news', and with that, we get to see the minds of the masses.

It is always easy for 'us' to point the finger at someone else, preferably an organization or in this case, TPU or WCCFTech or whichever provider of news, but the real blame lies with the receiver that keeps looking for that news. On the internet, you can find every truth you want to find.

If you feel hurt by what I'm saying here, that is only because it is an inconvenient truth. I tend to like those truths, get used to it.

So it has crippled RAM and SLI/CF support or at least on entry model ??????? Is this FUD ?? Where's the value in that ??
@cdawall you still/going to run dual 480's??? is this going to be an issue. Not sure what is being said about this wonderful lineup...........
..... How is this coming about, by the layout of the chip or ??????
I would hate to find out later that a new purchase is not like a full fledged item........
Don't really matter about the overclocking, at least not out of the gate if it will do 5Ghz yippee, if not ok! Same as Kabylake there.
