I've been around TPU for OMG ...Many years!! Like I remember W1z by himself doing reviews in the early 2000s. Only place to find a ATI BIOS in 2003 lol. I know the server switch or crash made him redo everything in 05. He lost everything didn't give up!!

All that said. I couldn't do it all these years. HOW the hell have you dealt with the fanboys,egos, bullshit,hate??? Blows me away W1z.

Plus you know, it is always good for a tech site to have more traffic. More traffic=better ad revenue=TPU can be around longer to serve all of us. Also we older folks can actually help some younger folks to see things from a different perspective.
IMO, I see nothing wrong with the younger fanboys. Once they get older they can start passing down the tradition of TPU to future generations(Well assuming TPU is still around by then)

I like TPU because its a serious site and offer a lot fore its users, so thx to the staff .
Normally the tone in forums is quite good, and if its gets a little out of hand, either longtime members or moderators are quick to get people to play nice again.

I think some of you are either trying to be kind or are willfully ignoring some things. Blame fanboyism and extreme views on youth/new members all you want, but I regularly see brand-hate here by long time members. That doesn't quite fit the model you are portraying.

I will add to the OP, its worse than it was. There are whole groups of members that believe one of the major players in the hardware world is altruistic and cares about them, not profits. Words don't even describe my reaction...it mystifies me.

I have grown to loathe a few brands, like AOC as they make crap products and I wouldn't want anyone to end up in the situation I was in with the 4K monitor I bought from them.

That said, you need to be realistic and I've owned products from every major brand out there over the years. Sometimes I didn't know what I was buying (such as my AMD 486-DX2 80 that my motherboard would only run at 100MHz and I freaked out and changed it for an Intel DX4-100 which was actually slower. Then there was the Am5x86 P75 which turned out to be a turd that couldn't even compile Linux, but fitted in my Socket-3 motherboard) to things I had thoroughly tested at work and I knew exactly what to expect.

I just can't be a fan boy, as it's swings and roundabouts as to who is on top and who offers the best value for money. I loved my Sapphire Radeon 9500 Pro which was BIOS modded to a 9700. I had various K6 processors that were easily modded with a pencil and I had an Abit BP6 with dual Celeron 300's clocked at 450MHz, although I doubt the second CPU was ever used for anything

The fun part of all this stuff is when you end up with a product that can do something unexpected, which is rarer and rarer today, as the companies who make the products are blocking those opportunities. It has made things worse when it comes to fanbois as well I think, as the proper overclocking and enthusiast products are long gone. Now you have to buy special SKU's to overclock, or you need to be an electronics engineer with access to LN2 to "properly" overclock something.

So what does this leave us with? People bitching about boring shit that doesn't matter. The internet has also made it a lot easier for people to bitch about things, no matter the topic. This is still a fairly nice forum and most people here are quite knowledgeable, unlike say the comments on Engadget or something along those lines...

Tpu is to me as FB is to my wife. That being said I find it easier and easier each day to filter. This thread has the potential to get out of hand but it will not due to the support the mods provide daily as well as the great community. I also would like to thank W1z and staff for alowing my uac settings to remain on low.

I could name you some members who almost exclusively only post in AMD/Nvidia/Intel related threads, some get so wrapped up in a very small world of red or green or blue that its inevitable that they miss some of the positive aspects of such a community and therefore some of them choose to contribute little to the community preferring a more negative approach but as some have said before, all forums like this do is reflect society to a certain degree, both in terms of it's strengths as well as its weaknesses and vulnerabilities.

And this is when I miss the good old days when you had 5+ CPU makers, 5+ chipset makers, 10+ graphics chip makers, 20+ motherboard makers and 10+ sound card makers. Yes, people still had their favourites, but it wasn't A vs. B at least and there were so many things to chose from that had various merits. Now we barely have any competition or innovation and it makes things quite dull to be honest.

AKA Knob(Mob) Mentality. Its been proven that groups of people are inclined to jump on the popular "thought" bandwagon for any given moment discarding their own convictions. Populate a red/blue/yellow forum and the most logical sounding fact will be agreed on even it its a blatant lie and not an actual fact. So our only recourse is to question everything. The term "put up or shut up" is not meant for us to post forum-fodder bullshit, its meant for us to put proof in our nettle in a forum as we would in our everyday life. Some people come to the forum to troll and pretend everyone is stupid just because its a "forum". Call someone out on their BS post and its an open flame war time. IMO.
