Still in very early development but it is being worked on along with a new IP codenamed "Dylan".
The franchise is still alive at least for one more game.

http://www.dsogaming.com/news/bioware-is-working-on-a-new-dragon-age-game/

From the article:

“There are huge differences between all of that and what I’m working on at BioWare, which I can now legitimately say is in the Dragon Age franchise although it has been known for a while. Notionally it was a secret but, because of who I was working with, everyone who cared knew. And then the day I started, Mark Darrah [executive producer of the Dragon Age franchise] tweeted saying ‘welcome to the Dragon Age franchise’, so I thought, well, I guess that’s official now then.”

It's dead anyway, both Dragon age and Bioware.

The first and awakening were the only ones worth playing.

:shadedshu: I thought they killed it with DA: I.

I thought so too but according to Alexis Kennedy they are working on another Dragon Age.

I won't hold out much hope for a great game though.

I didnt like DA:0, even pre-ordered it, twice, still have one copy in the shipping box i think. The game felt.. small. The areas were designed for a specific purpose and were built around that purpose, no larger than needs to complete the area. There was the illusion of freedom to pick a direction but the game really was linear, atleast to me.

Since DA:O was a new IP with a new engine, Bioware has used the same engine for every game since. This made the graphics and UI look pretty much exactly the same, which I didnt like. It was all copy and paste which allowed Bioware to push out many games in a short order.

I lost interest in Bioware this newer genration of its games. If I want to see any of Bioware's games, I'll watch them on twitch.

Everything EA touches faces accelerated degradation. It's the management (the people at top) that's ruining fine IPs.

I'm not a rabid EA hater but I do think EA is bad news for Gaming. You can pretty much see it in the quality of games after EA acquired Bioware in 2007. Mass Effect 1 was already done. DA: Origins was well underway and after that.......Bioware began to deteriorate. A user on a PC games site posted this pic which I think is interesting

We already know from Trespasser that the overarching story is going to be elves versus everyone else. I am so not hyped for this. That said, I'll probably get it three years after it releases in the bargain bin.

There was a video that had Casey Hudson (Mass Effect 1, 2, 3 director) trash talking Electronic Arts and Bioware's decision to sell out to them. I can't find it now. Casey Hudson left because Bioware lost creative control over Mass Effect: Andromeda. He wasn't going to be part of the collapse. He went to Microsoft instead which...well...

DA:O was the last game Bioware made tangential to the concept of good. And that is objectively, subjectively it's Jade Empire. Make something like that, Bioware. Step out of your comfort zone!

Origin and Criterion were great studios... And poor Bioware... Dragging a good name though the mud like that... Such a shame.

So how did EA do that again? Developers are more than capable of fudging things completely all by themselves you know. Bioware of old died a long time ago, and not by the hands of EA.

Right....Bioware of old is dead... Yet EA is dragging the name around trying to suck every penny it can while the name still has a somewhat positive recognition.

TBH they always were overrated, and I'm sure Bioware themselves don't mind being dragged around.

Well to me DAI was good for the most part and what i thought was the killer with it was the AI sucked, and lets face it wasn't the only thing that was killing DAI, what about the other piece of crap before it and on top of that the BS DLC's.

It'll only be good if they put the TLC in to what made the first one any good, other wise they should hand the IP to CDR as they can clearly make good games consistently.

TBF EA had nothing to do with Baldur's Gate's demise that shade goes to Obsidian and Wizards of the Coast were responsible for that nonsense. Also surprisingly EA was been hands off with Bioware not until ME:3/DA:I you wouldn't think they were an EA asset. Regarding the topic, I couldn't begin to care about Bioware's next bang all the supporting characters simulator that they crap out.

I played about 3/4 of Dragon Age Origins and found it to be fairly revolting. The plot was very dull. The characters very uninteresting. I enjoyed The Witcher 1 much more. Geralt seemed a lot more authentic. I didn't finish the Witcher either. I beat the first KOTOR a long time ago and it was acceptable. Not a big fan of this style of game I guess.

Dragon Age was somehow made to be as inoffensive as possible while pandering as many focus group categories. Something about it just seemed off to me. The characters were just dull and inauthentic.

As far as EA, best game they made was probably SSX and SSX Tricky on PS2, those games were amazing. BF1942 was good but everyone hated EA back then too. Some of the patches and balance decisions back then were very fun limiting and everyone knew EA was to blame.

I'm sorry you wanted to be a bad-ass commander taking on massive enemies and saving the galaxy? Oh our bad, we decided counselor/human resources professional would make a much better game. Good luck working out these random peoples problems.
