ForceWare 382.53 are absolute garbage

Anyone knows if NVIDIA plans on releasing new drivers anytime soon?

The current 382.53 is total crap:
- poor performance in Killing Floor 2
- Youtube video tearing
- Youtube and Steam videos corrupting and stuttering when Fast V-Sync or Adaptive V-Sync is enabled

It's terrible. And what's even worse, stupid Windows 10 won't let me use drivers older than 382.05. Even if I install older ForceWare, it'll install just fine. But then, half an hour later, screen will flash and stupid garbage would just auto update it to 382.05. Why the fuck Microsoft!?

I've had years of different Radeon generations and I never ever had to downgrade drivers, always used new drivers the moment they came out. First GeForce after years and here I am juggling stupid drivers. Ugh.

I've noticed a bit of video tearing lately too.

I don't have Killing Floor, but Windows 10 went a bit haywire the other day when I connected a 1080p plasma TV I'd just bought off a friend. It can't seem to figure out the correct desktop scale factor, even when I set it manually, so something isn't right there and stopped Steam games from actually running. The problem might not actually be the drivers here though and a bit of faffing got the games running.

No issues here so far with those drivers for me.. sorry they are crap for you.

There are ways to stop those auto driver updates though....

I've been on 382.53 for a while now and haven't had any issues with Youtube tearing. I don't have Killing Floor 2, so I can't comment on the poor performance.

I will say, that I do get tearing in youtube and streaming videos when I'm Folding on my GPU in the background. So maybe something is using your GPU in the background, this would also explain the poor performance with Killing Floor(and really any game).

Youtube and Steam videos are all stuttering and corrupted with Fast/Adaptive V-Sync in Opera. But only in Full Screen mode.

You force vsync specially in opera too?

Just tested it out, no issues whatsoever. I am using Opera too...

Adaptive sync only in certain things, like witcher 3, tested yesterday, ran butter smooth.

I use FireFox and don't see all that stuttering, just that occasional tearing that I mentioned. I'm gonna see if I can replicate what you see with Opera. Are there any videos in particular which are bad? Link to them here. Those could be the old Flash based ones.

I have no issues with .53 drivers on my 1080tis. They also seem to give the best performance mining on 980tis, 1060's, 1070 and 1080tis.

I have it globally enabled, like the entire time I had GTX 980. And I never had these problems till now.

Don't do this, as I had actually always problems with this kind of setting global. Half of locked games conflict because of that and cause stutter... I enable adaptive only after confirming it works.

Well try without it. Also disable opera powersaving options... you understand that the application FPS tick and rendering in a browser kind of differs with games. Also exclusive fullscreen options and code path. you cannot eat a soup with a fork normally...

Set vsync in games wherever possible. If not enable by game in the NVCP.
Exactly.

So many times I see idiotic posts that go something like, "I haz 60HZ monniter wiv game fps set 58 and why stuter halp!" Well, duh! It's not synced you illiterate fool. :shadedshu: Trying to explain to them how vsync works and is the solution then either gets you ignored or insulted. And I'm not making this up as it wasn't so long ago that I saw exactly this right here on TPU.

I'm not sure why Windows 10 is doing that to you as I have not had that issue at all. I have pretty old drivers installed on my GTX and Windows 10 never has tried to update them.

Why not? It was never an issue before. Till now as they totally screwed it up entirely. I don't have time or nerves to set this crap for every game/app individually if there is a global setting that works (worked) perfectly.
