Memory upgrade time.

Ok, my Patriot is FUBAR, I can live with that. I just got paid and I have a budget of around $80-$100. I want 2GB of DDR2 800 ram and I need suggestions.

These are my top choices ATM.

I dont like the MIR, but damn, what a price:

I'm getting the ballistix in a the next couple of days because I don't mind the MIR but the mushkin would def be my second choice mainly because I like the brand...other than that I would look up the reviews to see whether the mushkin or gskill did better since they have the same features, running stock at 1.8V vs. the crucial stock at 2.2

If you can withstand an MIR, thats a damn good price on the Ballistix.

The rest I would have to agree with you on tho, I would take the G Skill over the mushkin only due to its cheaper and the mushkin is only a tad TAD bit faster not a considerable amount to justify the extra couple bucks.

If I were you JC, I'd get the better quality G.Skill for $115 at Newegg. That's if you decide to take the G.Skill route. They look good, perform good, OC good, and have good timings, plus they have D9GMH's.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231065 $115 + $5 S/H, so $120, yes a little over budget, but you will be able to OC. Don't short yourself in this, you'll regret it dude, especially coming from DDR2 1066 memory, why get memory that may not OC as far as you are used to?

Of course Crucial and Mushkin are both great choices also! :toast:

It does DDR2 800@ 4-4-4-12 at stock voltages :eek:

Some have hit 1000MHZ@ 2.0V.

I haven't bought electronics off from Ebay since I got burned on a Geforce FX 5900. I think I made a really good choice with the Corsair. I have had their ram before and I was highly impressed.

No biggie and I can understand. I've always used Corsair in the past, during my DDR400 days and they've always been good to me. Only reason I switched to Crucial was because I got a great deal on the memory and well, their quality is second to none. :rolleyes:

Besides, TRACERS ARE SOOOO PRETTY!

I love my Tracers. They are clocked at 950 4-4-4-6 1T at 2.1v.

Yeah, they are amazing overclockers.

My pc2-6400 tracer kit reaches 1180mhz 5-5-4-10 or 1000mhz 4-4-4-8! That's the 800mhz kit as well, the pc2-8500 kit would go quite a lot higher i expect.

Yeah, JC, I would've gone for the Crucial on this one. Micron D9, and almost a guarantee to hit 1100Mhz.
