i love the fact that cooler shroud is metallic, you can give it a nice custom finish with your personal color choice! mine is black and looks twice as sexy, gotta do a little research about custom Bios for better values!

Regarding the bios, I had a member here on the forums help me out,he just modified the bios on my card, instead of screwing around with switching different bioses, apparently that's a safer way to do it. I don't like messing with stuff for a silly 5% bump in performance when the risk is multiple hundreds of dollars. If I recall correctly the maxwell bios editor and NV flash was all that was needed . If you chase down the thread for Unigen heaven you'll see that my reference 970 Out did a couple GTX 980's iirc

Dunno about recent prices but I sold a 970 over a year ago for $125.. which was a good deal at the time I guess.

Regarding the bios, I had a member here on the forums help me out,he just modified the bios on my card, instead of screwing around with switching different bioses, apparently that's a safer way to do it. Nah...didn´t touch the bios,just"regular"OC in Afterburner.......+500 Mhz on memory OC and +190Mhz on GPU clock......But honestly for every day use I am staying on +500Mhz Mem and +100Mhz on Gpu clock.....in that case don´t need to add extra Power-"juice"and temps stays below 65c.....and yes the results are still close to the GTX 980

i guess gotta do some work with mine, i cannot use drivers beyinf 345.00 version cuz they wont recognize my GTX 980, hope a reformat will help ... otherwise my card is f*cked...

Ahh...thats not the good sign...Did you played with your bios?If you did then maybe it´s time to put back the original bios as this could be the reason why your card not accepting latest drivers.....

no bios play, was testing 2 different VGA's in my rig, then when installed GTX 980 back some weird things started to happen, gotta reformat machine this week, hoping a bug in the Os is causing the hard time,

well not, but i was about to re-format while ago, gonna try tonight the DDU, if nothing improves re-format!

Then tried first....DDU save my ass few times....after that DDU become a "must" before every new driver installations......

The 970 is an MSI, my buddy doesn't game on pc much he's more of a console gamer. He said he would let it go for 100$ so I will be getting a 970 for 20$ after I sell my 960.

So yeah I am definitely doing it lol.

Now will my fx 8320 bottleneck the 970? I currently have it at a stable 3.8 ghz but I could probably overclock it some more but I haven't had a reason to do so yet.

Excellent deal....you want regret it........Now yes your FX8320 will probably choke a bit that GTX 970 IF you playing games in 1080p(or lower)resolutions,however if you playing in higher Res 2K/4K it will handle it just fine(in that case GPU become bottleneck itself)...
in 1080p depends of your CPU speed you can expect 10%-20% lower FPS comparing to some faster CPU´s with that same GTX 970....

It will help off course but don´t expect miracles.....before I switch on my current X58 platform(CPU E5645) I own FX 8300 OC on 4,1Ghz with the GTX 970....here bellow you can see my 3d mark result with both CPU and SAME GPU GTX 970

So as you can see.....according to the 3D Mark FireStrike E5645(4Ghz) outperformed FX 8300 in TOTAL score for almost 20%.......Roughly speaking thats your bottleneck.......
Then again thats if you want to play games in 1080P....lower Res bigger the GAP....higher RES lower the GAP

Get the GTX 970, dont mind about bottleneck, at this time the unique important thing is to get a better video card, then you will see if you need to upgrade or improve system,
