Certainly looks like it, though there are heatpipe direct contacts on new V6 instead of copper plate.
noticed some minor changes, its funny to see CM trying to make a new line from older designs with minor improvements.

I have the "Liberace free"(Liberace linked for those too young to recall) versions of both of these. the former option is extremely good at it what it does ,and it's reasonably sized , however I cannot say the same for the latter cooler. It's an absolute monster in size, & I'm confident it weighs more than many video cards(Definitely with fans installed) , but one would hope that it does a very good job at cooling ....seeing as how it will take up 60% of your case interior

scythe
coolermaster
thermaltake
Noctua
among others are Wonderful CPU/GPU cooling manufacturers.

Am I out of line in saying how ridiculous it is for them to have so many cooler models?

If they're selling, then cool. It just seems a bit much.

Agreed. Model+RGB doesnt = NEW model.

Ex:

Evo212+ RGB should = 212+, or 212 kaleidoscope edition;) not a new model. If the only difference is the presence of glitter and ribbons then it's not a new model imo

The CM V6 and V8 had mediocre cooling performance, they are more about looks, and they take up way too much space. I almost bought the V8 back when it came out, mostly because I'm a "car guy", then I realized it was so large it would be hard to change anything once installed, so I went with an H100, and never looked back. As I recall, it would barely beat the Hyper 212, was 4x the price, and took twice the space.

That has more to do with manufacturer cost cutting then improved performance.
