Geil's EVO Spear sticks are a standard-height, high-performance memory series specifically tuned for AMD Ryzen CPUs. With excellent CPU heatsink compatibility thanks to their low height, these EVO Spear sticks are ready for whatever type of Ryzen system you might build, entry-level or high-end. And yes, they work on Intel too.

Is 1.35V the JEDEC standard for DDR4-3000?
I'm asking because I know in the past there were some problems with sticks that didn't use the standard voltage by default and I tend to steer clear of those ever since.

JEDEC standard is 1.2v

  • 1R design lowers overall performance (but makes it highly compatible with Ryzen, so is this really a con?!?)

You hit the nail on the spot. I think for memory it's better to have max compatible rather then 'selective' systems or CPU's that can work with these chips.

So how much is the overclocking headroom? As it seems you didn't report what speeds you were able to overclock these modules to.

I have to be honest, I don't understand this review. It's pages and pages about the appearance, followed by a brief look at (extremely predictable) results and then a 9.6/10? Nothing in the review justifies/gives us reason for the score you awarded it - much less the award.

There's nothing about the ICs used or overclocking results. What speeds were obtainable? How did that influence performance?

Some boards not working at the rated speed is something you've listed as a con for the RAM, but how is that the RAM's fault? If it was rated at 2933 MHz would it have been awarded 10/10?

Overall, this review is really not much more useful than an unboxing.

Isn't 14-14-14-34 latency better suited to Ryzen, as in the G.Skill Flare X ?
And why only 3000 MHz on a "for Ryzen" product?

Give Cadaveca a break, will ya? I'm sure he's quite the busy guy at the moment. He's doing the best he can. Do better if you think you can. ;)

Thanks for the review Cadaveca. It's good to see less prominent companies get some attention for a change. :toast:
