Hello asus m5 a 97r2.0 r9 290 crossfire default are acettable results?

Today i have install the two vga .
These are all my pc's default no overclock only auto tuning.

For games I wouldn't call his CPU a bottleneck. I'd say his board is because he has a pretty bad board, would be killed at even the thought of overclocking. All he needs is a good board to pick his chip to 4.5ghz and call it a day.

I am srry but FX 8350 it´s choking those 2xR9 290 cards,OP maybe can OC more that CPU and get a bit better results but as I can see the best results with this CPU and 2x290 is around 14k(Firestrike) which is still lower then with any other"decent" CPU......Lower performance combine with the big power consumption and extensive heat...well srry but I can´t really see the real reason to keep that configuration if is the plan to play games on 1080p.....anyway it will be interesting to see how this combo act on higher res 2k/4k because then this CPU will be more bearable......

I noticed that the performance in vr mark has dropped a lot in crossfire even the first test of 3d mark 11

Had an M5A97 Evo not so long ago, could get my 8320 to around 4.4 easily, so the board is not really an issue, what was an issue though, this CPU was holding back my SINGLE R9 290.

Two different boards buddy

The M5A97 EVO was a lot beefier than the M5A97 R2.0 is. They really cheaped out on the VRMs on the R2 so it can’t sustain high clocks like the EVO could. My EVO I was able to hit 5.4GHx on a 8350 but the R2 you’d be lucky to hit 4.4 or 4.5 if your chip doesn’t require hefty voltages.

Yeah, I missed the VRM count on these.. Bollocks
Although, regardless of the board, it would be a great idea to have a fan on the heatsinks, as I remember mine throttling just because they were so hot...

I kept a 80mm fan mounted on mine at all times. Did 5.1GHz daily

Crossfire overhead + AMD drivers which are more single thread bound is an even bigger problem on such an aging CPU. But , that being said , no CPU is going to change the fact that dual 290 are a bad idea in this day and age.

The problem could be your Xeon,his making low scores in physics test and possibly bottlenecking the Fury.....just for comparison my X58 Xeon(E5645)that is OC around 4ghz making around 13,500 points Vs 9,900 that yours E5640 is making.......Maybe it´s time for you to get 6core xeon....

Huh? this Xeon does not bottleneck my Fury in any game besides CSGO which is doing silly FPS to begin with.

Only time it bottlenecks is when i purposely cap frames like this below.

And CS capped to 300FPS.

Well....CS can be played basically on any potato ......I am not saying that you can´t play games with decent FPS I said that probably your CPU bottlenecking your GPU as the Firestrike scores shows.....For example your physics score is "lower"which imply possible choke...also yours graphic score on AMD Fury was 13,700 and if you check Futuremark best GPU list you will soon realize that average graphic score for your GPU(Fury)should be 15,580......Well either is something not right with your GPU or your system(less likely)or probably your CPU bottlenecking your GPU....period.....

Check again that's Fury X scores.

You are right there are some mad Fury scores, but not represented by any games at all.

I come dangerously close and often beat GTX 1070 in DX12 titles.

In other games the Fury is performing as it should, Deus Ex for example hands the 1070 it's ass with DX12 and this Xeon.
