Well, it has been a long time since I last visited the forum.
So I guess this is the best way to make a return.
Super excited - might do some bench later.

A lot of threads indeed, but seems that it is performing really bad right now - I just did some Cinebench R15 runs and the score is really low smh T.T

It ought to boost to a degree, or something is wrong. Sure, it's not going to hit 4.1GHz on all cores, but it should at least hit 3GHz+ if it's plugged in, or something is seriously wrong.
You should be seeing a score of around 1090 points - https://www.notebookcheck.net/Intel-Core-i7-8750H-SoC.275944.0.html
The Asus ROG Zephyrus M GM501 with the same CPU scores 1168 - https://www.notebookcheck.net/Asus-...-GTX-1070-Full-HD-Laptop-Review.293956.0.html
Also, you're apparently running with a single SO-DIMM, so that will hold back the performance some as well, albeit that might not be more than 10% in Cinebench.

Put windows in high performance mode

Nope, didn't change a bit.
Might have to wait for a BIOS update in the upcoming days. I can't even reach 800 cb on Cinebench, it's so shameful.

Yeah, that's why I'm so confused. Probably it could be from the single SO-DIMM as well, but I highly doubt it. Turbo Boost just doesn't even kick in.

Capture3.JPG

Apparently, Turbo Boost does work on Single core benchmark (all the way to 4GHz). Doesn't work with Multicore though, the highest I see is around 2.4 to 2.5 GHz
I'm pretty sure that it could be limited by Asus, so the laptop can run in a longer lifespan, hence the TUF product segment.

If they limited it that much, I'd take it back to where you bought it from, as that's too limiting.
Have you checked the UEFI settings, so you're not running in some custom Asus low power mode or something weird?
There might be something wrong with the machine as well? Maybe take it back either which way, while you can. It's obviously not performing as it should.

I have a one month period for that, so no need to rush. And I do expect that a BIOS update is coming since the UEFI is really limited in terms of options.
Plus, I wouldn't really mind about that too much anyway, since I will use it for gaming like 99% of the time, so I don't really care about high Turbo Boost for all 6 cores/12 threads.

The model I have is a rather regular sized gaming notebook, it's not that bad tbh. And similar CPUs that run on other laptops can reach ~1000 cb easily. So I doubt that it could be a manufacturer/later update situation.

You forgot the one Dell made with interchangeable graphics cards. Although I don't think they ever actually released a graphics card you could upgrade to...

That is the one.
I must remember it looking differently, but it was so long ago...

Laptops used to be so much more tinker friendly. My first (and only) Dell got taken apart a couple of times and I upgraded both the PII-300 to a PII-333 CPU (I worked in a computer shop at the time and someone had left their dead one there to be disposed of, so I harvested the still working CPU) and the graphics card from some crappy ATI 4MB card to a crappy ATI 8MB card... Dream on about doing that today...

OMG
Now that's how it works huh.

Considering how many today have thermal troubles, that one Ran a P4 Gallatin Core at 3.4GHz, 965PE chipset and 2GB of ram, it had plenty of cooling.

I even had the MR 9800 256 overclocked.

The one I posted was Gen 1, there is a Gen 2 which I believe still had room to upgrade the gpu, cpu, ram.

Considering how many today have thermal troubles, that one Ran a P4 Gallatin Core at 3.4GHz, 965PE chipset and 2GB of ram, it had plenty of cooling.

I even had the MR 9800 256 overclocked.

Damn, now that's a gaming laptop.
My very first system has a P4 at 2.8 GHz and 512MB of DDR400 RAM.

Now imagine todays parts in that shell with the ample cooling it had, 3 blower fans didnt get too noisy though, never had throttling issues either

Doesn't work with Multicore though, the highest I see is around 2.4 to 2.5 GHz

2.4-2.5GHz is boost working, anything over 2.2GHz is Turbo Boost working.

It just isn't going to go very high with all 6-cores fully loaded. Check your temps under load, it's probably getting warm.

Temps are really good - like 40+ C, since the laptop is brand new. And when I run the single core benchmark, it does TB up to 4 GHz. My single thread score is 179cb.

Well, if that would ever happened.
