Bricked RX 480 after BIOS flash

Hello there,
recently I tried to flash a modded Bios onto my Sapphire reference Design RX 480, but it didn't go exactly like planned, I ended up bricking it.
At first I couldn't even boot to windows but with help of a paperclip and the 1+8 method i managed to succesfully boot with the "dead" GPU installed from my iGPU. What i have tried then:
-ATIwinflash, shows me: Independent ATI GPU cant be found (something along those lines, I translated it)
-ATIflash via administrative command prompt: -i adapter not found. If i try -f -p 0 bios.rom it says: Adapter not found ERROR: 0FL01
-made a bootable USB and tried flashing via ATIflash in DOS, with the same result, Adapter not found ERROR: 0FL01
-I installed the GPU in the 2nd PCIe slot and repeated the steps above

Strangely the GPU gets recognized by various programms like GPU-Z, but in GPU-Z it's not possible to save the bios to a file.
Every help would be really appreciated!

Have a nice day

Sorry, but I can't find anymore things to try in the forums then what i've listed above... Would be amazing if someone had another idea, IMO it's really weird that GPU-Z even tells me it's a 480. But thanks anyways

Did you even try? Because the Mining Bios Repository has a section for recovery. Basically whats happened is you put a bios in that has a different port configuration, so if its able to be detected as a 480 it should be able to be recovered, you may need to do a wire trick too

See if you can find @MrGenius or write a message in the mining bios repository asking for help

I will do that! You are talking about the "Mining BIOS repository"? Because I really can't find a lot there about fixing bad flashes, don't wanna annoy the next people because I'm asking in the wrong place :D

Again, thanks a lot for the suggestions

Don't be afraid to ask there, thats what they specialize in is bios writing, so they can help you recover too

here's an upgrade on my situation:
I managed to see my RX 480 in ATIflash while i hab another dedicated GPU installed in the main PCIe slot, -ai tells me this:
Adapter 1 (BN=07, DN=00, FN=00, PCIID=00001002, SSID=000067DF)
Asic Family : Polaris10
Flash Type : R600 SPI (64 KB)
No VBIOS

when I try forceflashing after this it says:
Failed to read ROM

ERROR: 0FL01

-i command results in this:

adapter bn dn fn dID asic flash romsize test bios p/n
======= == == == ==== =============== ============== ======= ==== ==============
0 01 00 00 6938 Tonga M25P10/c 20000 pass 113-4E3081U-X58
1 07 00 00 67DF Polaris10 R600 SPI 10000 fail -

I also posted in the Mining BIOS repository, but just in case someone stumbles upon this thread.

The BIOS I tried to flash on the RX 480 (bad.rom) and the stock bios (stock.rom) are found in the attached .rar

I am having the exact problems it looks like to me. Did you ever figure this out back then? I have an XFX RX 480 4GB that I flashed to an RX 580 and it displays the RX 580 in GPU-Z, but I've tried every method I've found so far, Amdvbflash -f -p 0 bios.rom, tried making a bootable USB into DOS to try to reflash back to original, I haven't done the pins 1 + 8 short because it's not my only/main GPU so I didn't have the problem of a no post, and then I also tried reflashing to original in HiveOs Linux and still like all the rest I get the 0FL01 error and/or "Adapter not found". Is it possible for a card to be like, Super bricked and I'm screwed? Any advice would be appreciated, Thanks.

Yes it's possible that your bios rom/chip is malfunctioning IF you did everything properly and you are still unable to re-flash the bios....

That sucks... Would shorting the 1 and 8 pins possibly fix that do you know? That's really the only thing I know of that I haven't tried yet. Like I was saying, it retained that the bios is an RX 580 so I hope that means that it's "stuck" if that's a thing. Would replacing the bios chip be a realistic endeavor if 1 and 8 doesn't work for me? I recall reading something about it the last few days, but Idk if people have spare working bios chips laying around.

I will try going through each of the methods once more and see if maybe I missed something. I'm not ready to call it a total loss. Also I was using a nvidia card as the other working graphics card while trying to reflash to original. I wonder if it would make a difference using one of my other amd cards... Might as well give that a go too. Thanks for the insight though.

Did you tried some older version of Atiflash sometimes newer version refuse to do bios flashing on certain cards from some reason also I assume that you always used Atiflash from command Prompt as Admin with -F command....Not sure about shorting 1 and 8 pin but IF your bios rom is "kaputt" I doubt this will fixed....in that case only solution is rom replace maybe you can get some broken rx 480 and replace the rom or maybe you can order only rom chip for your card....GL

The Syntax is totally different in 3.20 compared to 2.93

Yeah I was using the newest version until I read something about using an older one and have been using version 2.93 for most of the last week or so. I thought exaclty the same about getting a parts card, but these vultures on ebay will still outbid you like they aren't "broken" lol

And the 1 and 8 short is to get a system to post, but I didn't look very far into why that does work to get it to post or what that is actually doing when the pins are shorted. Im sure it's a long shot but might as well look into that a bit more while I'm at digging up all knowledge known to man about the RX 480 and it's BIOS...
