Doesn't look like next gen Navi high end Radeon is coming to gamers anytime soon

It's an "Exclusive Opinion" piece.
No it's not. Read it properly and you'll see they've got their sources.

Please let's not have a bitching contest about Wccftech and keep to the topic of AMD's roadmap.

EDIT
certainly is.. i found so many flaws in the gpu part..
Flaws like what? They've spoken to industry insiders, so what do you have to counter it?

AMD can delay fighting in the high end segment for all I care...that is not where the high volume sales are anyways. Look at the steam survery with most people having gtx 1060s.
As long as they at least release mid range cards I will be happy.

they lied then
all gpu core names go in order
Navi 10 would be first gen highest
Navi 14 will be like Polaris 12 is to 10 (RX 550) so a weaker variant
Navi 20 will be gen 2 highest and wont have a higher core count than 10 just more refined, i can tell wccf has no idea what they are talking about and i also talk to amd linux team. they lied or they werent talking to the industry.
i also know Vega 12 (RX Vega 18/24) is being worked on now because amd is testing them, and i also know there is a lot of Vega 20 IDs and some reserved for gaming... but it doesnt mean they will use them.

Looking at the Vega numbering scheme, it does look like the model numbers are the wrong way round for Navi, perhaps - assuming AMD is sticking to the same scheme. I think it's a bit rash to dismiss the whole article based on that though.

the gpu part after the architecture name i can dismiss easily, i dont know about the cpus or the business stuff but i know for a fact they have no idea what they are talking about with vega and navi (thats specific section)

and AMD is working on 2 different Vega 12 SKUs that are currently working prototypes. these will either replace the workstation portion of polaris or be gaming

You are really showing your shine lately, I'm glad you're part of the TPU gang!

AMD is in absolutely no trouble at all in the GPU market, we are in a little bit of trouble with high end gaming cards being locked into one manufacture and yes there was a time when AMD/ATI made a difference in that, but right now AMD is doing whats good for them and that's that for now. I do think they will be back with a reckoning force in the future with upper end gaming cards though.

AMD's market cap is 15M, NVIDIA 158M and Intel 254M, so yeah, AMD have to be real careful with their resources. In my opinion they're punching well above their weight to compete head-on with Intel like this (well done AMD) and force Intel to shake up their product lines. In particular, it looks like Intel are developing MCM solutions, similar to what AMD's doing in order to compete with them. Check out this article for the details: https://wccftech.com/intel-cascade-lake-ap-sp-xeon-server-family-mcm-rumor/

I hope you're right about the graphics cards in the future, but personally, I've got more confidence in Intel coming out with an NVIDIA beater in a couple of years, simply because they have so much more money available for R&D, those world class fabs and Raja Koduri, the defector from AMD's graphics division.

Since AMD hasn't been much competion to NVIDIA lately, it's no surprise that another player wants to jump into that vacuum.

The truth is amd pulled all their resources from gaming to servers from 2015 to now, now they are reversing and amd should beable to catch up, also thats what nvidia did too to make that volta super computer which is why we still use pascal.

I'm confused by what you mean by reversing?

They're concentrating on competing in the CPU space right now, not the GPU space.

The gpu division was focusing on server only for years now they are going back to gaming

Amd said this at computex (lisa) during vega 20 announcement

Do you perhaps know if WCCFtechs "Navi is a non-GCN GPU" has any validity or not? If Forbes is right RTG seems to have invested a lot of engineering time into it which would normally not be needed for yet another GCN chip.

Its possible its not GCN anymore, it will be all segments though low medium high end

I just want to make a point about something, and this is in regards to comment about AMD's market share.

There are many, many companies making chips of various types. Some are a niche market while others are just starting out in the high performance computing. You will find they can make fantastic products that do not require huge sums of money for R&D or the market share to continue to compete.

While it would be nice to see AMD have a much larger market share than it does now, it does not mean that AMD is "on its way out" or anything else of the sort.

I don't agree for the following reasons: 1) Intel are smart so won't hire a lemon. 2) Koduri will have a much larger R&D budget to work with. 3) The article explains that with AMD's limited resources, they've had to prioritize on CPU over GPU, effectively sacrificing the high end gaming market for now. It seems to be working too, with their competitive CPU products.

Agreed, AMD is definitely not on the way out. To produce products at the top performance level, they do need larger budgets though, which smaller companies just don't have. I'll bet we'll see Koduri be successful at Intel directly because of that larger budget. We'll know for sure in 2-3 years.

Still not necessarily. Budget money can come from various sources and doesn't mean directly sales. I have seen wonders done on very small budgets.

But that is my experience. And I guess its all subjective anyway.
