Hi beautiful people :kookoo:
As you can see from the following screens,im having some serious issues with my old PC :wtf:
My Q9300 seems to be a way too hot.In idle the temperatures are on 60°,after a short game session instead i can reach the 70° too.I used Real Temp and HWMonitor, and yes the temps are ho Hot :banghead:
So i decided to buy a new cooler for try to fix the problem.

So the question is.
My motherboard is one of the typical from HP - Eureka3 Ipiel-la3 ,exactly this in the following link.

Mother Board HP Link
Is a socket 775 with a core 2 quad.Does my motherboard support that cooler? At moment in using a stock cooler.

https://eu.coolermaster.com/en/cooling/hyper-series/hyper-tx3-evo/?lv01_type=cooling&lv02_type=hyper...

The cooler website says that the cooler is totally compatibile with a socket 775 mboards,so there shoudn't be problems, right?Thank you all in advance.

Have you tried just replacing the thermal paste? Perhaps the one on your CPU has degraded?

As for your question, the socket should be compatible.

That cooler will fit.
Also check air flow through the case, usually one front intake fan, and one outlet fan at the rear is enough, make sure any dust filters are clean, and make sure thermal paste is spread correctly over the CPU's face before mounting the cooler.

Benchmark Scores Turns on on the first try! Usually.
It should fit the motherboard without any issues. I know some HP cases are slim so you might want to check if it will physically fit inside the case itself.

Hi guys thank you both for the reply. So yes i changed the thermal paste,i removed the old one from the cpu than put a bit on the center.I Bought an ARCTIC-MX4 it helped me just a bit with a decrease of 5-6° only.I Also removed some dust into the fans and into the case.I know guys the PC is an old one a socket 775 with a Q9300 quadcore.I didnt have now the possibility to buy a better one so i need continue with this :( I think so..the old cooler is a bit degraded and it doesnt work good anymore thats why i have those hot temperatures..you think the new cooler will help?Thank you again

Could it be the cooler's fan? Perhaps it's not working properly (lower then expected speed or not functioning @ all)?

I'm sure is the cooler...because before I never had such hot temperatures.Otherwise the cpu is damaged? But a damaged cpu should not even start the computer right? Is dangerous use the computer with 60°?Thanks..

try to remove all the dust from your case and the dust from your cooler's heat sink , then change your thermal paste and install your cooler correctly, maybe the cooler wasn't installed correctly.
because your temp's arent normal at all, my core 2 duo's stock speed is 3.06 Ghz and it's overclocked to 3.6Ghz and the temps are:
in idle: 39-41C
100% load: 71-77C
note: these temps are with intel stock cooler.
and the most important thing is DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON A NEW COOLER IT WON'T FIX THE PROBLEM (((unless the old cooler was bricked))).

Cable management is key. Also pin style coolers over time lose clamping force due to stretching of the plastic pins. 478P4 did not exhibit this. Get a cooler with pass through screws.

i dont think he needs a new cooler because when i Bought my used core 2 duo i had the same problem my temps at idle was 81C !!!!!!
but i cleaned my case from all the dust and changed the thermal paste and the temps droped to the temp mentioned in my reply above.

I am mentioning this because someone else here was having the same problem, he did clean his case fans cpu fan heatsink even changed the thermal compound.

Also i almost forgot, ambient temps are key too, so if the room temp is warm the cpu will run warm.

I use a Scythe Ashura on a FX8350 and that cpu is OC'd to 5.0GHz. 43 idle, 55 loaded, tell me again why it would be a waste to change from stock cooling to aftermarket when the intel stock cooler for 775 to now sucks anyway? Heck the stock skt 478 P4 cooler was better. You may want to consider my time here which doesn't count my full experience on rigs considering TPU wasn't around till 6 years after I started building PCs. I didn't join till after 9 years after I started building...

Hello.
I cleaned the case from the dust, I cleaned the cooler and apparently it seems installed correctly on the mother board but my temps still be 60° in idle
http://i65.tinypic.com/2uieu1l.jpg

Looks like BTX, can you zoom out further get a picture of the whole case, it could be needing direct cooling on vrm, NB hsf compound replaced even.

What are your room temperatures like right now?

My room temperature should be on 30° but I can refresh the room.
Thats the case - Case
Thats the old Stock Cooler - AVC Fan Heatsink 5A307-008
If it can help the VGA temperature is 25 ° ( Asus R7 250 ) so if the case was so shitty i should have problems with videocard too right ?
Guys searching on google that shitty cooler is for old CPU so why it was included with a core 2 quad in stock ? Can i use the computer staying in idle at 60-64° or i risk to burn or damage the pc and the cpu?Again thanks you all are the best :nutkick:

Cost cutting measure, get by with stock even if temps are higher or fan is louder

Being a 775 socket, find my cooler, it works with 775.

Just check for depth of your case

Those temps are a non-issue. You're not going to hurt the CPU running it at even 99°C. The TjMax is 100° for that processor. Meaning Intel doesn't think it needs any thermal protection below that temperature.

But if it makes you feel better...install a better cooler.

Forgive me if this was mentioned, but no matter how clean a case fan is. If it died your temps will go up accordingly.

Lots of good suggestions.

How did you go about removing cooler and cleaning all the old paste off of bottom of cooler and top of CPU? How much new TIM did you use? With rare exceptions CPU coolers do not go bad except for their fan or mount breaking. beyond that their life is longer than we will ever be using one. I'm still using a Thermalright Ultima 90 that I got in March 2007 with only changes being updated mount and new fan.

What does your left side panel look like? Is that one of those coolers where it vents to a cut out in the panel? Because if it is and you don't have it meeting properly with the left side panel, it's going to defuse its heat improperly . Also you need to make sure the fan is blowing outword if it's that type of ventilation system.

These temperatures are way too hot for idle. Under load, they would be perfectly fine.
I advise buying a new cooler and installing it properly to the motherboard. I recommend Arctic Freezer 13 Pro, because it's questionable whether 150 mm tall cooler will fit in your case. Coolermaster TX3 EVO has the same LGA 775 mounts, so it should fit but it will perform slightly worse than Arctic Freezer 13 Pro.

its frustrating, because short of the cooler not operating at all, its one of those issues where i know if i had access to the PC personally, i (as well as many others) could remedy the issue in 20 minutes. either with a repaste, or re-mounting, fan inspection/cleaning.
