100% sure, consensus online is that there is small improvements but nothing that makes sense given the size of the download.

i think the leading theory was that since the consoles cant handle compressed textures, that they're pretty much just uncompressed originals with a few tweaks for some future console plans (VR?)

Well I need to reorginize my HHD'S and SSD'S then re install my windows 10. I may delete my saved game and start a new, is there a walk through that is a good follow? Or do you guys just go randomly?

That's my problem with this Fallout, it's got no direction or incentives/story to keep me interested. I have all the DLC too and will probably never see it as I just can't stay engaged enough to get to it.

Hmm, better off just increasing the lumasharpening or post sharpening a bit and you get the same result. Hell even the 'clarity' feature of the Reshade package will achieve this.

I havent opened it since then as you said, it doesn't keep me engaged(well put!). As I have done what was needed to do, to make the raiders happy and the game seems to not update it self so I can not move on from there. I'm thinking of dumping it and starting over, very disappointing!

i started over with a new game and i like it a lot more - the 'replay' value sucks once areas have been cleared as its just directionless.

there needs to be things like impending attacks that are actual threats (like 30 ghouls attacking a settlement w/ 48 game hours warning) to give you a sense of *something to dooooooo* late game

I think this hits the nail on the head, and I liked Fallout 3 much better in the way they built up the game world. It just had better pacing, more areas still waiting to explore, like the part where you have to get to Rivet City is a serious journey but still you only cover one way through the city center, leaving all the other roads undiscovered, and its a journey with lots of challenges too. Fallout 4 kinda lacked that, it just felt like you were running into 'small quest areas', more artificial. The settlement system actually works against the open world concept, because you're basically 'colonizing' the game world, with every settlement I took it felt like the world lost some mystery.

This reminds me of a system that did that kind of content right, and that is GTA: San Andreas with the gang wars. They were just always nice to do and didn't interfere with the open world, but added to it.

Broken record, but quests around the settlements once they're active would have been great (serious raids with consequences, plagues you need to hunt down a cure, synth infiltration of your settlements, etc etc) that done well enough could have been great.

In FO3 it felt like every random person had a name and a vague backstory - FO4 they're mostly no-name JimBob, so theres nothing beyond the choice of barter, work for, or kill.

Never mind the story pretty much sucks, worse still it's worse than FO3. They should let CD Project help them as BGS company falls short so many ways and seems they sit around with there thumbs up there asses more than actually making a good solid game.

That's true, especially whit Far Harbour DLC, the settlement building is disconnected from minute man story line. Encouages it's emptiness. But that DLC had great atmosphere.
The most irriatating thing with the engine is the LONG load times between indoor & outdoor spaces. No matter what hardware the PC has.

theres a mod to fix that, what it boiled down to was the loading times were limited by the FPS - and when they capped the FPS to fix the bug where high refresh rates got you stuck in terminals, they capped the load speed too.
the mod on nexus uncaps FPS on load screens, caps the rest of the time and resolved the issues.

Because the engine running it, while upgraded/forked/refactored/etc., is still the same one which run Morrowind 16 years ago, and I can bet a few bucks that Fallout 76 will exhibit bunch of the same old technical issues again.
