Because the engine running it, while upgraded/forked/refactored/etc., is still the same one which run Morrowind 16 years ago, and I can bet a few bucks that Fallout 76 will exhibit bunch of the same old technical issues again.

And of such things giants are born. At least if you're bethsoft. And it doesn't matter how much crap the game has, because "you can mod it". It's strange how people see the necessity to mod a game as a good thing.

Ive never modded it. I honestly played the whole game without issue. I think issues happen with the game when people DO mod it. Leave it alone and it will run fine.

Meet the "Unofficial Bugfix Mod". This thing, actually, makes the game have less issues. No, really, it does.
And good for you. Mostly, yes, all those games could be done without anything impacting you seriously enough, but shit still did break (the quite infamous Blood on the Ice quest) and the usual excuse, as sad as it was, was "mods will fix it". They did, and that is an issue in itself.

And, ahh, the joys of having high frequency monitory and then being unable to interact with terminals in Fallout 4, because AAA game did not like your computer running it faster than 60fps. Skyrim had similar problem if people haven't forgotten it.

make sure your NV/AMD control panel has Vsync set to let the game control it, and the in game Vsync is turned on

Always let game manage those settings.

Gotta love how a Fallout topic always needs to mention some sort of workaround or fix. And how the fixes are similar to those ten years ago :D

I was thinking the same, so stupid & silly how a mod is needed to "normalize" loading times between outdoor & indoor spaces.
Seriously, one can wait literally minutes for it to load despite SSDs soaking up the Sata III bus on motherboards. When I changed from trad.. HDD to SSDs I did not notice any difference in loading times....
A thread I saw on bethesda's forums discussed this issue & it was thought that the game engine despite 64bit upgrade from Skyrim still is essentially buggy crap.

it worked fine at launch because few systems could ramp the FPS up in game 100+, so Vsync off worked fine for the majority.

You'd get high FPS on the load screens, low FPS in game and it was all peachy.

Then along came beastly new GPUs and they had to find a fix for the high FPS bugs, and they chose to cap the FPS instead of finding a solution, and here we are.

So, wanna bet that even with the "16x MORE DETAILS" someone will manage to launch himself into space while playing Fallout 76 because he will have too high FPS count? :D

I tend to agree with that to a certain point. Never believed in too many mods, always gone for "mod light", that is less than 10 at any time. I mean this stuff is written by amateur programmers. Users participate at their own risk.
Some lists of mods I've seen others use in this game are bordering on 50+

Bahah... only 50? I'm using 221 on Skyrim SE. Guess it depends on what you count as a nitty gritty mod, though. Most are texture mods... ...only 58 are actually coded plugins.

And I haven't even really gone into the new content/overhaul zone with it. Mostly visual stuff and a few basic gameplay/balancing tweaks. It took a couple of months and lots of trials to get something like that built-up and running stable but everything is smooth and never crashes now. Dunno about fallout, but the patches and bugfixes actually make it more stable. And it really does make a big difference. The game is just more enjoyable for me this way. I play more and get more out of it. Can't tell you how much more time I spend actually running to places instead of fast traveling just to look at stuff.

You never realize how graphically ugly bethesda's games look until you see how they look if they weren't made by... bethesda. They have a great sense of design, placement, layout, aesthetic, and so on. The look is perfect for my tastes. Everything is just rendered terribly. Their graphics, on all of their games, don't do the visuals justice.

Honestly... ...I can't go back to Vanilla. Heavily modded just looks so much better to me and that aside... ...I'm so used to it now that it just registers to my brain as being how the game is supposed to look. Vanilla looks to me like a really bad quality mod. The modded one is the real one for me now lol. Goddammit if bethesda doesn't want to give us the games we want we'll just mod them into existence and pretend the original release never happened. :p

The modding community for these bethesda games is pretty excellent. Sure the programmers are amateurs but a lot of them take what they do more seriously than the pros. A lot of work and love goes into them, and testing happens with thousands and thousands of people running every rig/configuration under the sun, full time. Once put out in the wild for a little bit, the vast majority of the ones worth using are quite stable, which is impressive considering the compatibility nightmare of having to play nice with the hundreds of other popular mods. Development happens fast. It's a wonder any of it works. And yet so much of it does. All off a crappy, naturally unstable engine.

The only game I played for about 2 yrs was Skyrim... but when FO4 came out, well its nothing else as far as I'm concerned in non linear open world RPG/FPS mode but with all the DLCs too. The core of Beth games are designed for consoles, then PC optimisations is well... left to the modding community more or less if you know what I mean.

But in saying that, I dont' know of any other group of devs that do open world games better than Beth does. Not saying I'm an expert on that topic, just saying.

My motto with mods is unless they have a lot of popularity & high ratings, ie. in the top 20 list, I'm just not that keen on them. Stability of the system is more important than fancy imaginative mods imo.

Many criticisms of the engine, but it's still an improvement on 32bit form of it in Skyrim days. I never get any crashes or lockups on my system, smooth as silk, at least for 60Hz monitor & using VSR for 2K adds to the visual enjoyment @ ultra settings. :)

That's all fair. Can't fault you for that. I'll just say none of the mods I use vastly change the game. Just a lot of visual upgrades. I try to stay faithful to the original game, even with those. I'm just saying that most of the popular mods for bethesda games don't hurt stability at all. For me, if it makes things look or feel a little better without compromising performance or stability, I'm all for it and I'll use as many as I can.

And absolutely... bethesda kills it at open world games! I love the worlds the build and just... ...the atmosphere and general feel that all of their games have. That's what we all know and love em for.:toast:

I think I might have to reinstall the entire game, getting absurdly high amounts of "light armors"... etc from fallen raiders.
To the point this is an annoying bug, even after OS reinstall & yes game data is on separate drive.

Hey guys, I've read you can get a scenario with waves of 3 different factions attacking in the Defend the Castle (Super Mutants, BoS, and Institute), but I always get only Institute attacking, even if BoS is my enemy too before starting it.
Has anyone here done this quest with all those factions attacking in waves? If so, how did you set it up?

Sounds like a mod was used, that or a bug. I'd check out Nexus mods for something like this.

On another note, since I upgraded my primary hardware & OS had a re-install, then tuned for gaming, this game runs incredibly smooth. Best I've ever seen or experienced since acquiring it back in '16.
My only regret is wish it was this way from day one! :)

pretty sure thats a mod as well, havent heard of that being in the base game

so far my current playthrough has gone really well, i can even run at 144hz/fps without any in-game issues (other than physics objects like dragging corpses) getting extra twitchy
