Flashing newbie

Due financial constraints I bought a eBay NVIDIA GTX960 made in china brand XHVGA. It works AOk for everyday things like photo editing VLC video display.
But, any time I try to use Hitfilm Express or DaVinci Resolve it crashes app and leaves no bodies.
Finding a driver is also problematic.
My question today is what would be the recommended firmware choice? The version installed is 70.26.... All latest firmware is in the 84.... range.

What is the risk of bricking the card?

Any help would be appreciated.

take pictures of said card. I am interested.

Plus take screenshot of GPUZ. Guaranteed its a ripped bios flash of a 750 or whatever.

Before you flash anything, you need to verify that you don't have a fake card. Would you please post the following:
Picture of the back side of the GPU
And if you're brave, take the cooler off and take a picture of the actual GPU

Yes please do all of this first, get a clear shot of the gpu die where text is clear and also all ram chips and clear text from those, post all information here.

Ps you may want to talk to the card maker and software makers to report problems.

How long ago did you Buy it ?
quick google search of XVGA indicates the majority of these so called Cards are FAKE.
You need to verify what you have by taking the above steps

Card is semi Bricked as it stands?
if possible after verifying you have a FAKE >>> you need to take action to recover your money from Ebay/Paypal

( your Probably get the Refund and get to keep the Card >>>>> Then people here will probably be able to help you Flash the Correct Bios so Card can be fully functional and therefore useable by you)

That VGA connector should not be there on a GTX 960. First indication it's a fake.

Edit: Clean the TIM off of the GPU and give us a close up of just the chip.

Bought card about 6 months ago on eBay. Cost about $89 US.
After I turned off 3D I can now use on Davinci Resolve 15. Will not work on v 15.1.
as they say "You get what you pay for"

No, I don't have any replacement goo. I believe you are correct it is a fake chip. No NVIDIA marking on chip. As long as I can get some work done using Davinci 15 I'm OK limping along. I want to thank all you guys for your help. Happy I did not brick this fake!

It's 1000% NOT a GTX 960. The size/shape of the die and the placement of SMDs clearly shows this.

Yep. GTS 450. With what looks to be 1.5GB GDDR5 VRAM(Hynix, can't tell if AFR, BFR, or MFR).

I do not know what GPU this is, but it's not a GM206. The GM206 (the GPU on which the GTX 960 is based) has a rectangular shape, it's not square.

I couldn't find any with 1.5GB and that output connector layout. They all have 1x HDMI + 2x DVI-I. None with a VGA connector.

It's actually supposed to be a 4.5GB card(according to GPU-Z). But that's still impossible with 6 of those memory chips. Has anybody noticed that the specs for the GTS 450 states -
2 x DVI + 1 x mini HDMI

But, the pics show an extra VGA outlet.

Seems a bit strange ??
