This time you gotta help me decide.
I agreed on a deal for a used 1080ti trio for 2700 pln. I got my doubts though. 1080ti's are reasonably priced (used that is,new are still pretty expensive) but they're mostly ex-mining cards. The one I'm eyeing is ex-mining too.
My warranty on gtx 1080 has a month left, and I want a new one. What should I take ? The ex-mining 1080ti with 14 months warranty left an +30% performance at 2700 pln or a new rtx 2070 with possible 20% performance more but full warranty at slightly lower price (FE is 2799 here, AIB will cost 2500-2600 probably). I was dead set on 1080ti but now I don't know, there's benefits to having a new card on new architecture too.

Buiyng a mining cards scares me a bit, and a new 1080ti is just not very good perf/price, in fact at current pricing it's worse than 2080 here

TBH I'm very happy with 1080 performance, what I want is a card that's covered in case anything happens.

1080 ti all the way, will be far more powerful than the RTX 2070, which is just a sidegrade from your current 1080. If you're short on cash, neither and stay with the 1080, still a very powerful card

If your after performance then just buy a 2080 then at that price? The 2070 won't be here for ages and there's no benefit with it as it will NOT support ray tracing crap.

I'm selling the 1080.
Even if you are selling the 1080 - what for? From what you've wrote you don't need a upgrade, you clearly stated you are happy with 1080 performance here:

Ty - It is definitely true though - I've had a good 30 - 32 graphics cards and haven't had a single failure - 5 of those were different 560 ti models and they've been owned since 2014 and still running smoothly - Even under heavy load, it's too rare for a graphics card to fail though I'd worry if your a 24/7 100% load user....

To be honest the only worthwhile upgrade would be a 7nm gpu - the performance gains would be much larger and it'll be more competitive versus current times where AMD hasn't got anything massively impressive in the market (wait for navi perhaps?)

Except there was nothing indicating that you were to sell it. Besides, why would you?
Anyways just get the 1080 ti, it'll perform better and unless you specifically need RTX, no point in the 2070 as it doesn't or won't likely have the grunt to run RTX

Don't get the 1080ti, it's great card, but outclassed for perf/watt compared to the 2080. It's also noteworthy that the 2080 has better memory and support for DLSS which is a great tech.

The more I think about it,the more 1080ti I was offered seems like the most reasonable choice.
It may be the most power hungry out of those 3,and it's ex-mining (10 months), but that card is a tank. +30% over gtx 1080 that already runs great is prertty sick. The trio cooler is probably gonna run quieter on 1080ti than an entry level AIB will on 2080/2070. Here's the test,1080ti trio OC runs as cool as 2080 trio OC

https://www.purepc.pl/karty_graficz...aming_x_trio_niereferencyjny_turing?page=0,21

while it's quieter

https://www.purepc.pl/karty_graficz...aming_x_trio_niereferencyjny_turing?page=0,22

The card is legit, it's from Dec 2017, the guy has given me the serial number and photo of a receipt,I contacted the shop and it checks out. He ran 3x 1080trio and 2x 1080ti gaming x in a 10 card mining case, at 70% power limit. He claims it never exceeded 70 degrees while mining. He said I can test the card for myself before I buy (not gonna waste time driving there tho, it's 80 miles one way and my s6 chugs gas like crazy). You think it's a good idea to buy this ex-mining card ?

Sure, why not. Still has a recent warranty and the performance uplift will be decent. But again, if you don't have too, kept the 1080

I would, but then my monitor has all this grat headroom that I'm not using on gtx 1080,,and I got the cpu power for it.

Plus it's 2 years and 4 months that I'm sitting on 1080 (first 1080 fe,then 1080 sjs). Know what that means

Upgrade itch = emotional.

But really, upgrading at the end of a generation WITHIN the same generation, just a single tier higher?!? You're mad, boi. Total waste of time.

Just wait. Keep the 1080, tune a few sliders down, save up for something really great. And no, Turing's not it. You've already spent twice on a 1080... that should tell you enough, you need to restrain yourself. You're now considering sidegrades because of 'itch' even when you say you don't need anything. DAFUQ

The fact you have doubts and this is what, the third topic already where you consider an upgrade should confirm that any money you spend now will be buyer's remorse in the near future.

+1 - 7nm is the best upgrade for him - there's literally no value in him upgrading, he's happy with 1080 performance too making it a waste of money.

Lol 7nm is 2020 at the earilest. And how is 1080ti a sidegrade ? Plus you're missing the point of my doubts completely, it's about buying used. Are you serious about saving money for a 2020 upgrade now ? You really need to find a cheaper hobby if you are.

Buying used as opposed to losing warranty on a card that has proven to work just fine and won't suddenly fail.

Do you even logic

1080ti is a minor perf bump and its that empty RTX ON wallet with actual RTX OFF.
2070 is RTX ON at 20 FPS.

You choose

I doubt they'll even support rtx on the 2070 - The 2080 won't even scrape 60 - the 2080 ti STRUGGLES to hit 1080p 60 ultra which is a complete joke.

Yes it is. At 60 FPS, +30% puts you at 78 FPS. That is minor, if even noticeable if you're busy gaming. It will not change a thing about the overall experience.

Your playing at 2k 165hz right? Well if anything you should upgrade that processor it will get a bigger performance boost than that 2080 / 1080 ti.
lol.

I somehow doubt it'll even be a 30% boost too - He's playing at 2k 165hz which will require turned down settings, heavily more cpu intensive than gpu intensive.

"lol"? Nothing else? That i7 5775c is probably bottlenecking the entire system.

Okay, put your 1080 at 50% power and stay on it for a month. We'll see if you can't feel a 30% loss.

Okay, put your 1080 at 50% power and stay on it for a month. We'll see if you can't feel a 30% loss.

It's faster than 7700k,the hell you talking about.

Why would I? Like you said, the 1080's performance was and still is fine. Why would I handicap that to somehow give you the idea that it has any relation to getting '30% more'? There isn't a relation, you're grasping at straws here.

If you want us to talk towards your mouth about nonsensical upgrade paths, please do tell, and I will say what you want to hear.

You'll be getting stuff like this
