Is this ebay add for a 500gb ssd for $15 legit?

Hey guys I have been browsing around for an ssd for an upcoming build and I stumbled upon this ebay listing for a Samsung Evo 500 gb for a mere 15 bucks.

To me it seems sketch, but if it's not that is one hell of a deal.

It is either a scam where the seller will not ship you the ssd, and you will have to go through eBay customer service and wait a month to get your money back, or it will be purchased from amazon with a stolen credit card. Save yourself the trouble and don’t do it

The first clue is the seller's reputation level of "0".

Good deals (but not as cheap as this) can be had by established sellers with thousands of points. Many of them are actual ebay businesses and deal with large numbers of products, occasionally resulting in a good deal if they got the item (or a stock of them) on the cheap.

This however, is none of those.

The things I mentioned are not all-inclusive of your steps to keep from getting ripped off, but they are some critical first steps.

Yea I get what your saying it definitely looked pretty sketchy to me seeing both their reputation level and where it would shipping from so I will keep looking.

What is your opinion on buying an used ssd?

Personally, I would only get a used SSD from someone I know, or here on TPU. Those are the only times I am willing to trust how much they have been used.

Of course it goes without saying some kind of SMART report should be provided.

Ebay can be a good place for used SSD's if you buy from seller's with good reputations who are also stateside.

Though admitedly, I think it's more likely it's just one of those chinese "loopback" drives that don't really have the capacity they say.

Reminds me of when I was monitor shopping. Some guy had a crazy cheap monitor he was selling used, and it was almost believable, but stock photos, and wanting to meet on the border of the forest famous for "meth and muggings" did not help his case.
