Promising 'revolutionary' graphics with a new game engine, what in fact has been delivered is a washed out mess, and early Tomb Raider graphics in certain areas.
Remember Lara Croft's triangular boobs? I bet you didn't think you'd see those in 2018, did you? Well, you can now, because we've got triangular rocks and water that resembles chicken soup, but not as tasty.
Yet again, a game is released that is either half finished, or compromised for consoles, then badly ported for PC and the result is like minestrone soup - a mish mash, as if was cobbled together in one mad rush, just to please the Square Enix (SE) shareholders.
Steam reviews are mostly negative and many have refunded. To some extent, this has made SE sit up and listen and they finally posted links and a thread for tech support, saying that our issues would be addressed, as if we are the ones with the problem at our end, when clearly they have screwed up.
My biggest issue is with the inability to remap keys, being forced to stick with WASD. This in itself is deal breaker, but I'm prepared to hang on until they fix it.
I don't know what they were thinking when they designed the water, the rocks and waterfalls. They definitely got stuck in the 90s on that one.
The menu UI is also a mess and doesn't function in the traditional sense, where you would hit ESC. Apply and back are buried in a sub menu and the whole experience is very frustrating.
The actual game is fun, with explosions galore and some new tricks for Rico, but it's hampered by terrible controls and having to use WASD for everything, even vehicles, for which I have always used the numpad arrows. That's not an option at the moment.
Anyway, at least they have acknowledged that there are issues that need addressing:
I would normally refund a game in this condition, but with the peculiarities of Steam's local currency arrangement and Argentina's basket case economy, the Steam price worked out at around $17, so I grabbed it before they noticed their error.
Anyway, here are a few shots of triangles and soup.

Anyway, at least they have acknowledged that there are issues that need addressing:
- Improvements to menu navigation for mouse and keyboard users
- Support for remapping of movement keys
- Improved vegetation rendering and asset updates
- Fixes to some texture mapping issues
- Increased mouse sensitivity range
- Corrected specialised vehicle support for mouse and keyboard players
- Fixed issue with steering flying vehicles with keyboard
- Numerous stability fixes
