Just want to put a warning for all of those who use MSI Afterburner to setup custom fan curve and to overclock.

PUBG seems to terminate Afterburner's process everytime you launch the game.

Edit:
This issue only affects AMD users and the workaround is to change Afterburner's low-level hardware access interface to kernel mode.

The anticheat causes hard lock of the kernel of the system on recent insider builds also. Without a BSOD. Instant freeze.

This is as old as RTSS, though. Many anti cheat engines capture any sort of overlay.

You can try playing around with RTSS settings:
Read the tooltips and you can see.

I believe it's something to do with the on-screen display aspect of afterburner/rivatuner. Battlefield3 used to give punkbuster warning messages because of after burner/rivatuner.

Unless this is only about the standalone afterburner , in which case just ignore this

Hmm, is this a new issue or something? I just opened PUBG and everything seems to work absolutely fine for me, Afterburner/rivatuner isn't being closed or interfered with.

Benchmark Scores Faster than yours... I'd bet on it. :)
Same here... works just fine as of right this moment....

FYI, I do not have RTSS installed (ever) and do not use OSD.

I've been contacted by Bastian @ BattlEye yesterday on this issue. Your guess is correct, currently BE is closing any tool including AB if it is using user mode MMIO for low-level GPU access. We're discussing it now and will see what can be improved. For now the only option is switching low-level hardware access interface to kernel mode in AB properties for such games, if BattlEye is closing MSI AB for you. BTW, it is not happening for everyone, NVIDIA users do not need low-level hardware access at all as NVAPI provides absolutely everything that any OC tool may need. Low-level mode is only used on AMD systems to implement some things like voltage control and extended GPU monitoring, which are not exposed by AMD ADL API.

Thank you for the information. You're doing a great job with MSI Afterburner. :toast:

thats the ticket right there.

otherwise:
if a person wants OSD, just enable it in your drivers software suite, experience, or whatever AMD offers. im sure it has some limited functionality.

Can you add Alex's information to the first post so its caught by casual readers? This will help temper the title a bit and clarify why it is actually happening.

EDIT: That's what I get for not reading well enough too...I see a short passage there. :)

Maybe change the thread title as well to more accurately reflect the scope of the issue?
