hi what chipset do you thinks is the best for gaming? im look to buy a new board but dont know if i should get a 2ed 680i chipset it need mad overclocking and high end DDR2

Do a little research on mine (rather than take my word for it), the 650i can take up to 520FSB, is pretty cheap, is actually a very fast board, supports Quadcore and 1333FSB.

Which 650i can go 520 fsb?

If you need really good oc'ing have you looked at the p35 boards yet?

The ASUS P5K is a great overclocker in my opinion.

Are you looking for gaming or overclocking?

I dont think the chipset really matters for gaming, unless you are thinking about using a dual video card setup

Mine :D on a 6x multiplier, well 517 to be precise but there are reports of 520+ on other forums. Overclocking aside, the 650i chipset is one of the fastest out there (especially when you look at the price of the boards) in 3D apps.

I am not saying there are not faster but $ per Mhz little will compete performance wise mefinks, it's not the best board by any means but a rock solid performer with good overclocking thrown in.

lol I see. Yeah I read the whole thing about 680i vs 650i.

what about its new chipset coming out X38 with pci-e 2.0 well i dont realy what to upgrade my ram and video card and the price of them would be tho the roof so i need a chipset with sli and runs intels new e6850 dont think 650i dose and intels p35 is only crossfire so am i only left with 680i chipset thanks

Rest assured that there will be a BIOS update to accomodate, if it has been 1333FSB ready since the board launched then you should have no worries there, one thing that can be said generally about Asus (although this is my 1st Asus board) they generally keep up with compatibility. Remember the 6420 was not released when the board was, a simple BIOS update sorted that. It's got the 6750 which is 1333FSB on the compatibility list so you can bet when it's released it will support the 6850, same chip effectively just higher multi/stock speed.
