Hey guys I’m urgently in need of a new power supply as they one I had suddenly died on me today while I was working. It’s for the rig listed under my specs. Do you think 650-750W would be enough. I won’t be running dual GPUs but I do plan to upgrade to Navi when it drops.

If it's a decent 80+ Gold unit, it's more than enough. Worst case, if Navi ships with 300W power draw, you'll still have a nearly 200W headroom on your PC with that config and slight overclock.
Best case - Navi ships w/ 200W TDP and you can keep both cards :D

As when I get off work I’m heading straight to bestbuy (They are the only local company I can get PC parts) to buy a PSU as the longer my PC is down the lest work I can get done :banghead:

I've seen more Antec PSU's fail than any other brand. I personally stopped using them because of that.

EVGA is still hosting some good deals on PSU's, the EVGA 750G2 is $50 off on instant rebate, placing it at $79.99 shipped. https://www.evga.com/Products/Product.aspx?pn=220-G2-0750-XR

80+ Gold rated + 10yr warranty. I bought a couple of these for my son's PC's and I have one in my main PC running a 2700X w/PBO + 980Ti, the highest load I've seen yet is around 450W on my UPS iirc. So 650-750W, you'll be fine.

That’s a great deal but I need a PSU ASAP as shipping would take to long and all my business software is on my main PC

Best also only has the

That's why I look at the OEM anymore of them it's the same thing like Corsair

GQ850 sounds good to me. 9.2 at Johnnyguru is definitely a good sign.
RMx is also a good choice, especially with that 10 year warranty and lower price tag.
CX-M is a lower-tier bronze unit. Still OK in a pinch, but it's not gonna be as good as others.

have a look at the amps they provide on the 12v rails., the rmx750 i know has 60+ amps on the 12v rail so can power 2 gpus quite well. and i think the evga one has 80. so both of those are contenders imo.

Agreed, I'd go with the GQ out of that lineup. Though any of them would work. You could always get one of the cheaper ones, and then order the G2 to swap in, and have a known good spare as well.

Wow! I've had good luck with Antecs for many years. That said, like many makers (like Corsair) they use different OEM suppliers for their different tier series. I avoid Antec entry level series.

A good 750 should do it, Seasonic is one to consider as they are known to be a quality unit, the quality part of it being very important even if it costs a little more.
Never cheap out on the PSU, you could be asking for problems if you do.

Evga GQ & the Corsair RMx are both pretty solid, can't go wrong with either. 850W is way overkill for a system like that, even for dual GPU setups. But of course when it comes to PSU's more capacity never hurts any. I know my 850 B2 has no issues running an 8700K @ 5.2GHz & two HD 5970's @ 1000MHz and that's four gpu's. :p

650 or 750 is plenty. preferably Seasonic, NZXT, EVGA to name a few trustworthy brands. hopefully the new PSU didnt cause any damage

Make sure you have the cables in the right ports on the PSU, correct cables are used.

If it doesn't work send that unit back for money back and get a Seasonic.

You may have to dry test those parts with shorting out the atx connector without it hooked to anything but fans and aio

I've seen more Antec PSU's fail than any other brand. I personally stopped using them because of that.

I stopped using them all those years ago when they put out all those PSUs they basically knew would fail because they were using counterfeit caps. So they just underrated them to hope to get them to last just long enough for the warranty to expire. They did eventually recall the units after their scheme was found out and they were threatened with a class-action, but I had already had 4 of the units fail. Their PSUs have never seemed to get back to the good quality they had in the late 90's early 2000s. Antec will never get my business again.

And then Newegg does this:

I'm really sad that I didn't grab more of the EVGA Supernova 1000 G3 units back when Newegg had them for 89.99. I only grabbed 1, but I wish I had grabbed 2 more.

That's not good. I really hope the old PSU's didn't take other parts with it when it died. :(

Time to start testing the parts in another system to see if anything is really dead or if you just got a dud new PSU.
