ComputerBase.de review title says it all: "Zu laut, zu langsam und zu teuer, aber mit 16 GB HBM2 (Too loud, too slow and too expensive, but with 16 GB HBM2 "

Vega 64 was a very bad lunch, this is a disaster. AMD go back to drawing boards and bring us something that can compete, even if it takes you 2 or 3 years. Why shame yourself with this joke?

Btw: you should under Volt it. AMD didn't even bother to do it by default:

"Die Folgen des Undervolting sind sofort spürbar: Eine deutlich geringere Leistungsaufnahme, ein hörbar leiserer Betrieb und die Performance bleibt gleich oder wird in wenigen Fällen sogar minimal besser – falls vorher das Power Limit eingeschritten ist. (The consequences of undervolting are immediately noticeable: A significantly lower power consumption, an audibly quieter operation and the performance remains the same or in a few cases even minimally better - if the power limit has previously intervened.)

@Super XP by a very small margin & at 4K with DX12 enabled. That is still not enough when you factor in how badly HBM v2's OCing ability.
@lynx29 that's an even more larger revelation for some, including me when i heard that Lisa's uncle IS THE CEO of Green Team.

I honestly can't believe the AMD board room allowed her as CEO being the niece of Nvidia CEO... conflict of interest big time... especially if she is like my niece (who loves me and sees her almost as father like cause her father left her at a young age). She sure did have a big smile knowing her Radeon VII in her hand was 30 fps slower at 1080p almost across the board while running 100 watts more... LOL maybe she does have nvidia stock, who knows.

Agreed.
This is what AMD has to play with at the moment. But they are in need of a completely new next generation GPU Architecture.
Hopefully Navi gives us the best possible Price / Performance, as this is what AMD can compete on if they play the cards right.

but it is and lisa su advertised it as such.

It could be advertised as a rocket ship, don't care for branding or marketing. I'm planning on using it as an inexpensive opencl workhorse.

Aiming for gaming market is a mistake. If it was just for gaming a much cheaper PCB & component selection would easily make the card at least $100 cheaper to produce.

Navi is still GCN based I think. Can anyone more technical confirm this? I believe 2020/2021 is non-GCN cards. and quite frankly I am tired of waiting.

good for you Nvidia has 75% of the gaming market share. and drivers will always be better optimized for nvidia for the majority of games because if something goes wrong, Nvidia will have the loudest voice on forums, etc

So the card performs more or less as expected. They needed something as a stopgap to Navi and to be somewhat competitive in the high end. Unfortunately for them, all the chips they have are computing ones. It truly is a Vega successor in name, origin and disappointing price/performance. Although the performance is more or less depending on the game, and state of drivers or the lack there of at the moment. I'll have to keep an eye at YT reviews once drivers stop crashing.
But what really baffles me is how they managed to make a triple fan cooling that bad. Or better yet, how did Sapphire manage it, since they made it apparently.
After looking at GN's video just now, it only consumes 20W more on average than a stock 2080FE, yet it's a lot louder to maintain similar temperatures... So how in gods name did this cooler see the light of day is beyond me.
And so with all the negatives piling up, the best thing about the card are the free games you are getting.
They need to ditch GCN as soon as possible. This is going nowhere...

What a joke, Lisa Su lost all respect from me for allowing this product to be released. I was considering a 3700x, but screw it. 9700k and rtx 2080 is probably my next build.
If this card is the sole reason why you wouldn't buy Ryzen 3000, then you wouldn't have bought it in the first place. You just needed an excuse not to go with an AMD cpu (gpu choice aside)...

because Lisa Su was the last person in the industry I trusted. and she lost that trust today. now i trust none of them, intel, amd, or nvidia. so i might as well just go with classic intel and nvidia for my next build. 9700k is the best gaming chip especially since i see it for $369 free ship no tax right now.

yeah im serious. look at the ryzen benches below. ryzen is a joke compared to intel, for some reason GND is the only website that tests Ryzen properly.

really disappointing, 30 fps slower across the board at 1080p almost... and using 100 watts more... wow so pathetic...

we agree on this, but Lisa Su bragged about it being a gaming card... misleading. :/ I wonder if Lisa Su has any stocks in nvidia... cause Nvidia stocks have gone up a lot in last 3 days. i think 5-10% gain. lol

shady stuff imo when your Uncle is head of Nvidia and you just launched the only competing card.

The Taiwanese media reported that the two were a distant relative, but she dismissed it as "not true."

OK fair enough, but what are you waiting for anyways? I can play any game on 2K with Ultra High Settings with my Sapphire RX 580 8GB Radeon card and my Ryzen 1700X, yet I didn't pay an arm and a leg on the more higher end GPUs. Anyhow, for me anyways, I will not buy an Nvidia Card all because of what they stand for and how many times they push Anti-Competition practices on AMD etc.,

I wanted a RX Vega 64, but wasnt sure about my 3 monitor setup and the 8GB of ram, so have waited for the 16GB version for more than a year. The reference design have but one problem (besides of all the bugs the reviews talk of), the lack of DVI/HDMI support for 3 monitors.

What would be best for 3 times 1920x1200 setup in Eyefinity, a displayport converter to HDMI or DVI-D solution?

BTW danish price around 5.749 dkr including tax and delivery 22. feb 2019, actually some in stock but on sale for as high ad 6.500 dkr.

Displayport is the current and up to date video signal standard. With possibilities for improvement for the future.

Benchmark Scores Faster than yours... I'd bet on it. :)

I don't imagine many titles to go over 8GB in the first place, waiting was... well, I wouldn't have. Your res has almost 1/3 less pixels than 4K UHD and 8GB is enough for MOST titles at 4K UHD. ;)

The release is underwhelming, given some of the hype. But really anyone calling this a "failed product" must've missed the other dozen or so dumpster fires from either vendor in this decade!

That's what I've been thinking as well. For example Vega 56 is a monster of a card ONCE you undervolt it... Why AMD doesn't do this by themselves is beyond me. Of course not all chips are equal, and some will undervolt more, some less, but here has to be a sweet spot that could be hit on all cards. This is definitely not it, as clearly nothing was done from AMDs side at all. Again.

I don't know what is the problem here? You can easily connect 4x1920x1200px monitors to any GPU. I have 1 connected to HDMI, 2x to DP, and 1 to DVI-D. HDMI is the worst connection as it takes longest time to get recognized by display (I even have to do manual monitor rescan from time to time if it doesn't connect). That is on GTX 1050TI. I even had 5 displays connected to AMD HD 6870 with no problem (NVidia only supports up to 4).
