Right now (for the past 3 days) Amazon has the XPG S11 Pro 1 TB NVME drive for $199 after a $100 coupon.

If you need more storage and can afford it Silicon Power 2TB drives are regularly priced for $329 on Newegg.

Both of these drives are rated at 3500 MB/s Read and 3000 Mb/s writes and they both use new controllers and 64GB layer NAND but the Adata is faster overall.

In general NVME prices have been falling for the last 6 months but there are still drives in this capacity that are way north of $199 for 1 TB and up to $600 for 2TB.

Unless you're a video editor or use those drives for backup, sequential speeds will do squat for you. Look at 4k QD1 random speeds instead. If they're not above those of an AHCI drive (~50MB/s reads), don't bother.

Indeed, if you don't want to feel snappier performance, faster load times, improved FPS, Using a page file that actually makes sense or using a slot on your MB that otherwise has no use then fine. Even going from 50mb/s to 160 to 200 is noticeable as it is 3 times as fast.

faster load times? For double the price I can save a whopping two seconds in load times?

improved FPS?

If you're having framerate issues, a solid state drive isn't what you need. Your GPU is is the key component there, and upgrading to an SSD will not make a difference. The point of installing games on an SSD is the drastic reduction in load times.

Not saying that I don't trust reviews but I have every scenario in my system . I moved TWWH2 to a RAID 0 SSD and noticed faster load times vs the HDD it was on, I then moved it to a single NVME drive and load and turn times improved and FPS increased by 5. Then I moved it to a RAID 0 NVME array and again load and turn times increased and FPS increased by another 3. You may not see it in all games but I know all of my RTS games enjoy NVME more than SSD.

I have NVMe and SSDs from Samsung and Crucial and similar to TPUs test results, can't really see a real world difference.

You must be experiencing just the increased FPS then :D

Intel 660p is under $200 for 2TB at Newegg. I've been pretty happy with it (as a secondary drive at least).

Yeah I have been eyeing one of those for my builds it's been bouncing around $259 to $269 CAD lately. I love the fact that the 2TB has the most SLC Cache and also endurance

I don't think you can go wrong. I said it's a secondary drive, but it's mostly what's in use since it's my game drive. Main downside might be that Intel is probably cooking up larger sizes soon.

I have a Samsung 970 Pro 512TB as C:\ and a Phison E12 1TB as D:\. They have been great for FiveM, a game with insane load times and prone to crashing, necessitating additional loads, which increases frustration. Now, I can load in much quicker than my discord buddies, by several minutes sometimes. FiveM puts the download cache directory (the big bottleneck for FiveM) on the C:\ in users\appdata, and I have my GTA V directory on D:\. For quality of life, it has been a great upgrade to move from an old SATA SSD and mechanical drive combo to running NVMe.
For those saying NVMe isn't worth it, it is priced the same as SATA. Now is the time to abandon SATA as a standard for SSD purchases going forward.

The 1TB Silicon Power 1TB P34A80 is only $110. Its the same as the Corsair MP510 and the Inland Premium 1TB (which I have).

A word of warning, i bought one of these silicon power 1TB nvme drives off Amazon.
It cost £126 , bargain, no issues Id recommend it.

However the shit who sold it reversed the Vat charge on it to me ,via Dpd delivery, I'm trying to sort this now.

Yes , You may not pay tax but all I'm saying is pay attention, don't just surge through the buy process like I did ,its foolish.
