The ECC server memory I bought in january is down by about 40%. Do you think it will go even further?

It will dip to a point and then skyrocket once manufacturing switches to DDR5 (Hynix has ETA for 2020) and they'll switch to remaining stock. Unless there's some "factory fire" or something similar. That's what the cards say, I'd have to slaughter a chicken to get a better read on events to come.

Just about 6 months ago you could not get 32GB of DDR4 for less than $300. Now they are as cheap as 16GB that I got last year.

oh i hope it drops soon, im holding out for a 16gb of ddr4 @2400 to make my lappy duel channel, why thay didnt put two sticks of 8gb in new i just dont know. darn laptop makers eh

Laptops are abomination of industry: total lack of standards, no real options to build a proper laptop with sane specifications and 99% of configs available on market make no sense, even if you spend few K on a laptop.

I've never liked laptops and always threat them as overpriced toys as what they are to me. Tool for business to work while travel? This purpose laptops serve kinda well but still far from good.

Well, technically we're actually back to 2016 prices, which is kind of nice, as memory was cheap back then...

You should have a look at some Lenovo models, the ones that support it, can generally be built to order with two sticks of RAM. If it really is dual channel or not is a different matter...

I hope it lasts until next year. I'm tempted to up my speed now, but I'd prefer a larger kit which I don't have the cash for atm.

...Although I only see this drop reflected in a few brands. Kingston prices are still outrageous.
