Nvidia in July 2019, is DP still required for G-Sync in the new compatibility mode? Or will HDMI 2.0 work?

Monitor in question: 27" 1440p 144hz Freesync but Nvidia Compatible. Changing the wire will be pain in the butt... but I also don't like using this mini DP to full size DP cable I have... I feel like I am losing a bit of quality cause of the mini DP end (not sure on this????) its all the this monitor supports. HDMI 2.0 fulls ize or mini DP... yeah its a weird monitor... see sig for specs.

Got to be DP. HDMI 2.0 officially doesn't support adaptive sync (nor does NVIDIA). HDMI 2.1 is when official support starts and even Turing doesn't have that.

DP is digital. Quality can't be lost but signal can. If you're not seeing any issues (e.g. flickering) then it's fine. DP is far more robust of a protocol than HDMI.

Is there any downside to using Mini-DP over full DP. This monitor only supports Mini for some reason, so I got a AmazonBasivs Mini DP to full DP cable. I am going to switch to it tomorrow, hopefully no issues. :)
