Wolfenstein: Youngblood is this month's latest AAA game release, yet comes at a very reasonable $29.99. We thoroughly benchmarked the game at 1080p, 1440p, and 4K using a large selection of 23 graphics cards, including the latest Navi and Super boards.

Ok, so one interesting thing caught my attention:

I have never seen these 3 cards so far apart from each other.

The biggest "WHAT?!" for me is 1080Ti performance. And that one is definitely not constrained with VRAM. Interesting results all around.

Then again an RX 570 is killing it at 1080p/ultra, so I'd say the optimization is there.

From the review:

"The AI is terrible though, it often attacks the wrong enemies, even if you told it not to (with the Q key), it also takes forever to resurrect you in case you go down. In other games this hasn't been a big deal—just let the stupid AI die and fight it out on your own. In Youngblood however, a timer starts as soon as one player is down, and if that player doesn't get resurrected in time, one of your three shared lives is gone. This means that when the AI fails yet again, you have to stop shooting, run to your downed sister and resurrect her. The shared life concept would have been tolerable, were it not for the game's save system, which is non-existent. There is no checkpoints and once you've used up all your three lives, you're right at the start of the level, with all enemies respawned and objectives undone. This is extremely annoying during boss fights, particularly at higher difficulties, because it'll take you almost an hour to reach the boss, a route which you have to repeat in case you die. It also makes short gaming sessions impossible, because quitting the game puts you right back at level start."

That's the part that puts me off on this game. I don't really care for escort missions in general and it sounds like this entire game is one long escort mission. They aren't too bad when the AI is good but when it it's not it is just frustrating at times.

No checkpoints is bad also.

People easily overlook this Turing advantage over Pascal, which allows it to also do well in AMD titles using RapidPacked Math (albeit not directly.)

This is actually fun if you speedrun with another player in co-op. Single player wise, it's okay, but you need to babysit the AI companion a few times.

Read my comments in What Are You Playing. Unlike @W1zzard I in fact found the AI for your sister to be pretty good and was glad I didn’t have to babysit her. I was thankful it worked fairly good for me in the first 4 hours.

It really is nothing like an escort mission. I never worried about where she was or tried to keep right near her. She handles herself very well. It does make sense to stay in the vicinity though, and do fire concentration on the strongest baddies.

Well yeah it's actually not only for the concurrent int+fp math, Turing have full fp16 too while Pascal have it at 1/64 rate of fp32. And then there is better Async performance on Turing cards.

If you speedrun it with a friend, it could take around 3 to 4 hours. If you play it without rushing, around 7 to 8.

Dang, I have 4 hours and just got to Little Berlin for the hospital rescue after the catacombs. I haven’t done any of the other catacombs side missions or the 3 main tower missions. No way will this be 7 to 8 hours for me.

As I mentioned, this is when you really concentrate on doing a speedrun. If you're planning to 100% it, I'm sure you can do 7 to 8 on Very Hard or Über.

Sounds proportional to the prequels, which average around 14hours. That's about all the time surving Wolfenstein fans have these days, whether it's a weekend binge or 2-week spread.

I'am skipping it. There are things that irrate so much me in this game... Especially the language in between both of them. Not mentioning the gameplay flaws...

Well W1zzard especially said those are disabled and upcoming article will take a closer look of it(Adaptive shading, VRS itself is part of VRworks).
god damn 2070 super is already 18% faster than 1080ti without it,and the gains are 8-17% on top of that.

Any more of that forced SJW BS? Wasted my money on SJWstein2, don’t wanna waste money again

I read the synopsis on the surface it stopped short of an SJW's wet dream if it wasn't for the fact that they have to go save BJ. Prolly turn out that he's already dead or turned into some sort of weapon they have to kill completing that awful fantasy.

Could we maybe not talk about "SJW" stuff one way or another in a technical forum? If you didn't like the game just say so, and stop at that. Thanks.

I got this game for free with my 2070 Super. Honestly, it doesn't look that good but I'll give it a shot since I already have it. I am interested in playing with raytracing once they add that in. And the frames that W1zzard got across the upper end of the RTX cards is reassuring that maybe I won't have to turn everything down to mud just to get it running at 60 fps.

Honestly, I'm glad I waited to get a new card because RTRT is kind of underwhelming. Until this game I didn't even own a game that could exercise the RTX hardware, and if I didn't get a bump from 1080 to 1080 Ti levels of performance, I would have been pretty pissed. Also, there's not much daylight between 2070 Super and 2080 Super performance in this game, feeling better about saving $200 there.

What's going on with Nvidia where they can't help these companies get RTX out in a reasonable fashion? If you miss the first month of a game, 90% of the people who are excited to play it have already done so. Young Blood's RTX is going to be relegated to RTX demo at this point. It's sad but I doubt we're going to see day one RTX until the new Xbox and Playstation come out and it's pushed as THE "next gen" feature. So backwards that us PC folk have had this for a year now and game devs are still slow walking even bad implementations of the new tech.
