I have no idea why all my games are stuttering when everything was fine. I have a dell inspirion with the i1 processor, i updated my drivers. I dont understand why this is happening when before it was fine.

Major causes of stuttering:

- Overheating CPU or GPU leads to swings in frequency
- Background processes taking up CPU time during gaming
- A virus
- Potentially a failing storage device or RAM
- Windows installed a crappy driver for you

I would try using DDU to completely uninstall your drivers and then install the latest GPU drivers. I would also check the task manager to see if any programs are taking up a lot of CPU time. And also I would use HWinfo to check your temperatures to make sure you aren't thermally throttling. If all of those turn up nothing, let us know.

witcher 3 had stuttering for me until i changed max pre-rendered frames to 1 in nvidia control panel.

try that, it fixes stuttering in a lot of games.

All the games i play suddenly start using 100% gpu and close to 100% of the cpu. but before it used to run them fine eg overwatch

I'm not asking this to be an ass, however I noticed that no one else has asked this: Have you tried turning it off and on again (restart)? Also, what games are we talking about? Knowing your GPU and the rest of your system specs/configuration would be very helpful. Perhaps windows was updating in the background, or a virus scan?

By the way, welcome to the forums! When you have a moment, could you kindly fill out your system specs in your profile? We are here to help.

good news, after i reinstalled my drivers, it seems to be working fine. but when i alt tab and open chrome the cpu usage goes to 100% then it goes back down below 50%. I dont think it did that before but its a good start. thank you for the help. Il try the nvidia control settings now
