My first Case mod Origionally done in 2003/04 If I remember right LMAO.

Anybody up for some Retro Case mods? I would like to share a really old mod project of mine. This case started out as a basic beige case that originally housed the family's first computer. A Pentium 2 233 running Windows 95. Don't mind the shape it in now its been through 4 different family members the last two being kids. I did all the work with a Dremel a little over 20 years ago now I think.

80 mm A.C Ryan blue LED and blue UV reactive fans. 6 of them where install in the case. 2x in the front 2 x in the back and 1x on the top and side.

thanks also I will use an old case 15 years ago and I will put a 92mm fan behind only I don't know which model is suitable

I don't know if the motherboard I'm going to take has the laptop's HDD cables and I don't know if the power on and reset button on the case can be connected to the motherboard. tips?

Back in around 2007 when i was pretty impressed by clean an beautiful looks then i bought lian li case then hacksaw it.
Now i use server case and back to normal life

Thats not the stock sidepanel is it?? I remember around that time i wanted to build a PC with the case that side panel belonged to but ended up getting this NZXT Guardian instead

Back in those days it was all about the 80mm fans. I had some random ones with red LEDs i bought from the shop along with the case and some Antec 'thermally controlled' ones that had their own temperature sensor and would ramp up or down based on the heat coming from inside of your case.

Before that i tried my hand at case modding too. I cut a hole on top of an old beige case like yours and attached an 80mm fan there. I didnt really have the tools at that time and we had builders around who would leave theirs here after work so i used their tools to do all my work. but i really messed it up. I didnt have anything to cut the metal and in the end i had to use a hammer, a chisel and pliers to make the whole and bend everything back in place.

Dremel tools make things so much easier these days.

I think the question was if a 2.5" drive uses the same SATA, and power connector.

Oh boy, I remember those! They were noisy but looked great, I had a DIY windowed panel also in 2005 and a similar AC Ryan fan on the heatsink of my Socket A build.

If the the connectors for power/reset have a mark or + sign all you need to do is match the two. The motherboard should have silk screened mark _ that tells you the positive pin 1.

it was never about 80mm fan, i remember my 240mm fan mod to the side of the case with plexi bought from hardware store,, oo so cool heh threw one that looked similar to that in the alley about 2 years ago hopefully someone took it still worked but wasnt good enough to go to my wall of motherboards

I'll check the signs when I put it all together.
more than anything else is that i'm not sure if if the connectors or the attacks of an old case of 15 years ago are compatible or come into the new motherboards. this is my doubt. I'll take photos as soon as possible.

I somewhat miss cases from this era. I built my first computer back in 2004 that had that exact side panel. I dont quite remember what it was though. If I saw the case, id recognize it though. Kinda wish I kept it.

Almost all cases from this era had this style in some form. Was quite appealing to me at the time and still kinda is. Mine came with the rainbow fans that was basically RGB but only had 4 colors built into it and you couldnt change them back then. I really need to do some digging to find out what case I got.
