For the second time today my trusty T430 died... hard shutdown with no notice. It goes from working perfectly to so dead as if I unplugged the charger and removed the battery.
When it dies removing the battery and charger and then plugging them back in DOES NOT work and does NOT allow it to power back on. I have to wait a while before it will work again.
I don't think it's an overheating issue because I just tried stressing the CPU and the system, CPU, and GPU temps ended up at about 100C in HWMonitor but even 10 mins of that and it didn't shut down. When it shut down I wasn't doing anything particular intensive.
I did just update the BIOS from a 2012 version to 2019 prior to running the stress test. Not sure if that solved the problem or not.
The only thing I changed recently was a fresh reinstall of Windows 7 instead of Windows 10 which I was running before.
Complete specs: I7-3520M CPU, Intel HD4000 GPU, 16GB DDR3 RAM, 250GB WD Blue SSD.
My primary concern is that I rely on this computer for work. I need to make sure this doesn't happen again, so I'm hoping anyone has troubleshooting ideas, or if I can't fix it, I'm going to have to buy a new computer, which I can't rely afford right now.
