hey there!
i want to know, is there any way I can find out if my new Graphics Card (purchased from shop) is used or was totally intact before buying? My gpu is Gigabyte RX 580 Gaming 8G MI. One of my friend also told me this gpu is a mining gpu because it does have MI in the end. is it true? Whats the main difference between Gaming and Mining cards? Can I game on with this card as i expected from RX 580?

#Thanks in advance <3

Based on your 3rd attachment it would seem that the data is wrong as I don't know if a 580 that can run at a 2000MHZ clock.

stock memory clock for rx580 is 2000mhz. i assume you accidentally read the core clock as 2000mhz?

that bios seems fine based on the gpuz sceenshots. the drivers are running WHQL, that means the bios has not been modded. its a good indication that the card is indeed new. the zero fan feature seems to be working. i would be comfortable running the card the way it is. you wont see any performance difference between a mining card and a gaming card. the memory timing on mining cards tends to be tighter than on there gaming counter parts. any test would be within 2%.

should not have any trouble. enjoy.

Look at the 3rd pic the GPU clock is at 2000 MHZ and the memory clock is 2250 MHZ. I do agree with you though that the card should be fine for the OP.

i see, thats the overclock limits that the bios reports to amds wattman to tell it how far you can overclock the core and the memory.

Yeah that was my thought process as well even though I have not been able to get a 580 to that speed.

Yes, its a mining version, thats why it has 3 month warranty only, but it has display outputs, so you can live with it happily, i think :)

I would definitely return it.
Especially if it is a mining card for more than $200.
I bought mine for $128 used, but was a gaming version of the same card.
And our specs are very similar.

never pay for gigbyte, becouse bad reputation on cooling issue, for an rx580 i only prefer colleting saphire nitro or powercolor red devil(especially golden sampling), asus rog if you could found cheapest one, those 3 are on top tier rx580 model
anyway i would like recommend this aswell
pickmepls

heres my personal bench using uniengine fullhd extreme preset(all in stock clock, no ocing cpu&ram aswell), narow down from top to bottom

1st sapphire nitro 4/8
2nd red devil(standart edition)ignore this
3rd red dragon(oem, amd logo)
4th asus dual
5th sapphire pulse
6th ice queen
8th xfx wolf(480 actually)
9th maxsun(it become legit card now, no longer producting fake card)

all is 4gb ram bench, except red devil trade blow with nitro on 8gb bench
the rest i never have chance to get the card yet, and suprisngly i got the 1st card on cheapest deal ever $60+ for an 4gb model, expensive one goes to asus dual abt $100+, and another suprise that pwercolor cheap oem actually outperform asus

anyway for some reason i keep my 4gb ratherthan 8gb, many review on youtube sometimes utter exagerated, as for me theres no such peformance value if its only 2-3fps gap(im talking abt real test on stock clock), the difference only in vram capacity, usually i resell 8gb after test only, it such a waste of cash, except red devil, still keep it till i got golden sample:)

yes its the same as massproduction red dragon oemv2, its for mining market, but provide port option than single dvi, anyway 1year warranty as for powercolor brand
note: flasing redragon oem with real one factory bios is a bad idea, dont ever do it:p

I had a powercolor card, was overheating all the time no matter what I tried.
So for me gigabyte is good reputation. This is what my experience says.

Overheating, in celsius what numbers? As well do your case have good intake and exhaust? Typically when someone is crying about overheating is whem he haven't checked in what mode the card its selfs runs and case... true story.

Ambient temperature has a play in it too

which model of powercolor? abit hot on oem model but as for me is a standart temp, but i can tell you for sure red devil is a real deal both performance&durabilty, bit noise fan only if it reach 65% fan, its rarely happend tho, becouse the temp roughly hit 70c or so, the only one can stand this devil is nitro, altho i put nitro on top tier becouse is very quite fan+performance is good, nitro is the best, no hot issue, faster card ever, only left the golden sample, i will hunt this model, i think it can stole nitro throne:)

May I know what was your card temp while gaming or heavy workload on the GPU?

I have RX 580 gigabyte gaming. I get 77C. 50% fan speed.
I have bad fan intake since I dont have any fans in the front panel.

I had an old 6770HD powercolor, 88C fan 100%. Had to underclock.

In fact I have had asus, palit, gigabyte, powercolor.
This is my rating from best to worst.

1. Gigabyte.
2. Palit.
3. Asus.
4. Powercolor.

This is just my experience with cards, doesn't mean you will have same luck.

hmm i never seen palit producting amd card:o

GB sucks for coolers on those cards. Personal experience with 10 of them... used to hit 75c at 100% fan speed, 80% power target AND underclocked to 1200 MHz.

Real weird. Did you try repasting thermal paste?
I get 77c at 50%.
Best coolers I got so far in any cards.

It was an old 7600GS nvidia card.
I could overclock it to max and never had any problems with it.

The fact that all ten were bad, no, I didn't. It's a known fact that the coolers suck.

77c on that GPU is very warm. The ASUS STRIX cards run at around 45c for the same fan speed.

yes indeed asus strix having good cooler, i own 570 dual fan only, but the temp is stable 60c+ fulload ingame, even with auto fan setup, while the regular asus tigerbox 580 4gb is bit hot 70c+ or so, never have chance to get &try 580 strix yet, price is still expensive:)
