If the cost of electricity and noise from the fans used to cool it are not an issue, then yes, it's a bargain. But I have a Ryzen 7 1700 sitting here running WCG that's almost totally silent. I turned down a 2700X that was on my local CL that was listed for $90, because of its power usage.
@ $0.12/KWh, the 3600 will save the difference in electrical cost in 13 months
@ $0.222/KWh, that drops to 7 months.

You can always undervolt and under clock it a little if the power is that much of a difference :) I would have thought the added IPC and such would have made a decent jump in performance over the 1700/1700X CPUs :)

I guess a trip to MC is in order...

Please do sir!! :D :D I wish I could go visit one just to see what it's like over there...

If I wasn't dishing out cash for a monthly car payment now (god how I hate deer) I'd be going to my local MC.

I guess things need to hold out for maybe a couple more years before I might be able to scrap together some cash for a new build.

I sincerely wish there was a MC in Canada or even driving distance from where I live in Canada. It is crazy for me to think that for less than $200 US one can get a 2700X and B450 Pro. Just as a comparison the 2600 is on sale right now for $164.99 and the B450 Pro is $134 ($104 sfater MIR). The kicker is that the 2700X is currently on sale at Newegg for $261.99 Canadian. About $2 more than the CPU and MB from MC.

Yea the truth is its A crazy deal in so many ways.
This last few weeks I had been planing on replacing my Home severs with B450 and A 3600. Then I seen Amazon was giving 15% cash back(if use their CC) on the 2700x So that made it $161 + Free 60 game that I wanted. But then I remembered that MicroCenter has some crazy Blackfirday / nov Sales.. Checked with them and they had it for 159.99 + Game and you get $30 more off with Motherboard. So I added that to my cart. (that was Sunday the 10th). I told my self, thats A steal .. will have a game to play and I can replace my old power hungry severs with something faster. Got side tracked till Monday night, went to buy it ... and the total price was even lower .. was like WTF did i do.. i messed something up. Nope , Price just went even lower ... Dumb founded but that as deal you cant pass.

If you look on ebay, the 2700x Sales for 150 - 170 used . This is cheaper then that and includes the game.

If you wanted you could buy the 2700x for 129.99 , sale the game copuon for $30.00 on ebay and you get the 2700x for $100.00

Crazy Deal

I could not have said it better myself that price is absolutely crazy for an 8/16 chip that can do 4.3 GHZ across all 8 cores. I don't feel as bad as I felt before though. I was looking for some WInter boots and had some on my Amazon wish list for $62.99 then I looked today and they fell to $48.88 so I am happy about that but still a little envious. I might actually contact my cousin in the States to see if he can get me one of those :)

I’m very tempted by this, even though I have a 9600K rig. I could probably sell my current build and break even, but having just been screwed selling on eBay, I’m a bit hesitant.

I'd keep the 9600K unless you really need the cores and threads, there isn't much point. The 9600K will be quite faster for single thread, especially if factoring in running it overclocked.

I wouldn't mind the extra threads for RAW imports into LR. It takes all the cores you will give it, and the idea of someday going to a 3900X or 3950X with the same ol' consumer board is pretty appealing.

yea thats really the only advantage you would get .. its you have alot of upgrades ... might not need them now but they will be their when you do, also think they will be cheap to.

That being said , if you did get 2700x .. I would say get A good 470 or low end 570. The VRMs on the B450s are bla at best ... and running A R9 39xx stock would be pushing to its max ..

Also , I am having issues gettn my RAM to OC at all ..

Case Antec P7 Neo
yea thats really the only advantage you would get .. its you have alot of upgrades ... might not need them now but they will be their when you do, also think they will be cheap to.

That being said , if you did get 2700x .. I would say get A good 470 or low end 570. The VRMs on the B450s are bla at best ... and running A R9 39xx stock would be pushing to its max ..

Also , I am having issues gettn my RAM to OC at all ..
Yeah, I could pick up a 9900K or KS, but that's end of the line here, and I'd need a new cooler to go with, as my 125W tower cooler probably wouldn't cut it.

Benchmark Scores World Community Grid is my benchmark!!
I will be at the one here, tomorrow.
BTW, the 2700 8 core and the 3600 6 core both run at 65W.

So, @thebluebumblebee how is it that it is more electricity and noise? Unless you are talking about the 2700x, which I have no interest in.

edit 11/17/19 on my way shortly to go get the 2700 w/ a Gigibyte B450 M Auros and a code for The Outer Worlds that I will sell for $40, any takers? PM me

Well avg power consumption will be higher, 7nm vs 14nm, but that won't be much to worry about unless you're running it 24x7 however the 3600 should be superior in most tasks that can utilize 6 (or more) cores properly.

I believe the deal is for the 2700X @Arjai but I think with a bit of a down clock, you'll be right were the 2700 is :)

Gots mine!

Now hoping for a Black Friday Deal on some memory, and then it's on! 16 cores Crunching for about half the cost of 12 cores in my T-3500 Xeon cruncher's. Plus 4.1 vs. 3.3 GHz!

The cost is more to build, about twice as much, but the cost savings on powering it 24/7 should pay for that in under a year.

I'm Happy! Step one in the Crunching Farm make over! :toast:

:lovetpu: @phill The deal works w/ the 2700, as well. 65 W's of bliss! LOL.
