This is good news. The bad news now is there is a need to get the world's ISPs in an consensus to adopt, and to agree on one standard. And not all ISPs want this. Hopefully, with Microsoft's clout, they will see the light and get on board quickly.

I've been using an encrypted DNS relay for some time, over a year I think. Would be better to have native support for sure.

I can reccomend 1.1.1.1's encrypted dns server at 1dot1dot1dot1.cloudflare-dns.com

Android has this now, for pete sake. Windows is way behind in native support.

I've somewhat given up on privacy tbh. I just expect the product I'm using will spy for the company's home country.

I mean look at AMD psp. A company that could barely sell it's processors in 2013, added an Intel Management Engine counterpart that same year. At least Intel could claim its IME is to help SysAdmins or sth. What's AMD's excuse other than mandated by U.S. govt.? What's funny is AMD now sells normal and pro variants of ryzen, so why keep psp in normal ryzen?

Intel's Management engine is at least well researched enough we know it does not actively spy on users and can also be shut off via bios mods.

But whether or not the government can target an individual for monitoring if they appear "interesting" enough to manually target is still a matter of debate. Still the ME is basically dead if disabled with bios mod.

AMDs PSP is strange, unresearched, and indeed troubling, though. No comment on what it really does until someone does more homework.

All OT though, honestly.
