Hi,

i make a follow on that thread : https://www.techpowerup.com/forums/...y-kryonaut-psa-nasty-scratching.261985/page-3

Today i was O/C again a bit more my 6700k, youhou, nice, rockstable @ 4.7/4.6 - 1.285v LLC5 ! BUT ! My core 1 is perm 5°C hotter than the others core, so i decided to check my thermal paste, repaste with my thermal grizzly kryonaut, but i saw (big?) i guess that nicely big scratch on the copper plate (eisbear 280 aio, brought last month!!!!) so i see only on answer : the thermal paste.
for thoose who think it can be caused by dust or alien, no, not with me.

check out the photo, its the same on the IHS, just a bit less. I did the same on my GPU, should i go disassembly to cry or i keep the mistery ....

BTW i dont know how that can happen, the little mouvement the waterblock is making while screwing ? there is almost no pressure at this moment...i guess its a bit abrasive too.

calling @Thermal-Grizzly

those expected
After we admitted of having a bad batch, we received several "fake problems and requests"

Time for a PM consult :)

But why would you put it on your NvMe drive??

Werent planning to OC it were you?? thermal paste on NvME drives are pointless.

Same here. I have one, and sometimes two cores that run hotter than the others do. These temps right after a benchmark run. I'm using Thermal Grizzly paste on an 8700K system.
So small temperature variances between core is probably not something to be concerned about.
Thermal Grizzly has never scratched any of my heatsinks before.

It is now the only paste I use.

Yep, its not thermal paste manufacturer fault, maybe more homogeneity of the paste on the die, maybe pressure related not exactly the same everywhere...test on direct die and tell me:)

Yep, same for me, in my experience it is rare NOT to have one or two cores with different temps...…………………...

RealTemp.jpg

On the desktop all 4 cores, 8 threads may not be needed to do any work, so just one or two are working hence the temp difference.

i talked about 5°C idle, 9°C burn, so

atm for exemple = 20-24-20-20 , burning = 61-69-58-60

a few differences are ok yes

On my 3770K I have 1 core that loads 10-12c lower than the other 3. Nothing I can do except delid it and hope for the best. It has nothing to do with my TIM. Which happens to be TF8, slightly better performance than Kryonaut, at least on paper.

Doesn’t Kryonaut get hard when you get up to 80c? Not sure where I saw that. It’s the only reason why I haven’t used it. That may or may not play a role in the damage being done here in these two threads.

Not IME... I was using it under a Mugen MAX when I put my Ryzen 2600 through the ringer trying for a 4.3ghz OC. I was playing with it for a month solid... often with extended periods in the mid to upper 80s. 8 months later when I popped the cooler off it was still moist and tacky.

I always thought it was a non-curing paste.

I would have added to the other thread (instead of a dupe on the same subjec) and like the advice there, contacted support or that rep in the thread...

But then we wouldn't be able to pressure the manufacturer into giving stuff by creating a thread for maximum effect.

Lol I guess. If that's why you feel this thread exists, to extort something from them, why not merge it and prevent it? :)

I can have an opinion about something without pressing my beliefs on the OP. Or taking moderation advice from members.

I don't even get the big deal. My Mugen has the same pits and I never thought anything of it. Just kinda like "huh. That's new." Maybe I got lucky but the performance was still great. Kinda wrote it off on cosmetic damage that nobody ever sees.

Maybe I'm getting too old. I don't have the energy to get active about something like that.

Same here.
Thats something I jus can't be bothered with,I re paste once a year 'MX 4' if that and the temps are still more than fine so what do I care if there are some scratches or whatever.

My temp with that defective paste are pretty the same than with generic bequiet paste (the one from cooler package) So my real concern after a night with a few dreams, is the damage on the DIE, still work but are the thermal performance remain the same ?
As i said i saw the scratch while i was investigating about an anormal core temp (core #1) ...
I dont care about cosmetic !

Doesn’t Kryonaut get hard when you get up to 80c?

i dont reach 80c :s

Hey, i saw the Thread now :)
Can you e-mail me the proof of purchase (receipt), and tell me the verification code if there was one inside?
I would have answered your e-mail earlier, but we have no one who speaks french at thermal grizzly
