Hi, I got some strange fps problems in games, dont know if it is normal, but while playing GTA online i noticed 1 to 2 cores maxing out causing fps dips below 60 fps, same with Sekiro, where one core sits at ~70-99% and causes sometimes dips.
In most benchmarks i saw the core/thread usage was equal in 1 or 2 it was the same as mine.

I have the cpu for over a year I just notices it do since I didnt play for a long time and I dont really have other games to test it, and my network is so slow that I wouldnt like to download a game just to test it.

Temperatures are normal, about 45~57°C

Cinebench R15 normal score, only thing I can think of if this isnt normal that I should reinstall Windows, which is my last option, and if I have to will the reset windows do or clean clean install? Thank you

It's not unusual to see a game dump a ton of rendering on one or two cores, especially in online games or console ports.

I am aware but I saw many benchmarks on youtube for the same specs as I have without the unequal cpu usage, for both games, here is one from Sekiro - the only difference is he got almost 100% gpu usage but that shouldnt affect core usage, or 1 core almost maxing out and dipa

A few people on reddit had the same issue and stated turning off game mode helped, not saying it will will but just passing it along

All the specs are the same as his, I only have 2666mhz RAM, and the cpu reaches often ~100% on 1st core which causes drops to ~55 fps, in the same place where he is, and he doesnt have the usage or drops, its just annoying when it drops, as it shouldnt happen in my oppinion

in the image his FPS is 60FPS. I'm not sure if his v-sync is on or if the monitor is 60hz refresh but there is no real difference between 55FPS and 60FPS.

The game is capped at 60. Its wasnt the point its his equal cpu usage on most cores/threads and mine not, what causes the fps loss for me and he has no drops in his video, i watched it whole. Other youtubers also have it like he does thats why I posted the picture

Could be the 2666 memory speed... 3000~3200 is the rated ram speed for ZEN+.
Most of the time 2666 must be sufficient but others could cause a bottleneck in data transfer. That time, GPU is waiting the CPU to finish transfer and load and the GPU usage is dropping also

if you just now noticed this behavior have you changed any settings for your games or have any new programs running in the background? Your patriot memory will run 3200 speeds by setting to docp in bios. the video card should have zero problems.cpu at the present is alright. one more thing if you are not to budget constrained is to maybe add 8gb more to the ram. Cheers

8GB of system RAM with an 8GB GPU?

Get another 8GB of RAM and see most - if not all - of your 'strange' behaviour fade away. (I have 9.5-12.5GB of RAM usage while in GTA V @ 1440p - experience = 4300hrs+)

For GTA it should affect the performance, but not for Sekiro, which should run perfectly on 8gb, then again, lack of RAM should not cause all cores to just not being used..

Will get another 8GB soon, bought this kit when they came out, paid about 100€ this 8gb and never got to upgrade them..

Set the pagefile size to automatic in the mean time of upgrading your RAM and see if that fixes the error's you're seeing.

Of course 8GB is not very good today for gaming but if you see the screenshots the OP posted the RAM usage is under 3GB. So this FPS drop is not from low RAM capacity. At some point the OP must upgrade to 16GB but the drops will continue to happen. Higher speed is first priority to me.

@Rezzorx any memory bandwidth benchmark yet?

I will get a new kit as soon as possible , at least 3200 cl16 and will report back with results!

Quick question, on the mobo supported RAM list it supports the G Skill 3200Mhz Cl16 I am looking into, but it says supported speed 3066Mhz, and supports OC, does that means that it should automatically OC to 3200 with just XMP enabled without having to manually set voltage and timings?

You could try running 2933CL14@1.4v~1.45v on the 2666kit /w 1.05v SOC voltage (VCCIO), tho could be limited by either the CPU, RAM or MOBO
Also could you somehow confirm you have the HPET (High precicion event timer) disabled, since it caused some huge issues for me in timing sensitive games, aswell as furmark for example.
You should be able to find this setting in the bios, or using GPUPI v3.2 or 3.1.1 (the only windows program i know that can toggle it.)
You can get it here: https://www.overclockers.at/news/gpupi-international-support-thread

Were you able to fix the problem? If so, could you share how you did it? I found myself with the same issue as of recent, and couldn't find the answer anywhere :(

this looks more like an issue with windows than ram. even if his ram is crap it should be loading more cores. what windows version are you on? do you have the latest chipset drivers installed? what bios are you on?

I got it
I was able to fix the problem by reinstalling and older version of Windows 10. Didn't have the problem for the last three weeks or so.
Maybe installing more RAM would do the work as well, idk
